I Used to love baseball
Posted on December 24, 2008 at 03:26 AM.
Thank you to the Yankees for saving me a ton of money in game tickets this year.......In an age in which we praise parody in leagues.... "Major League Baseball" has pooped allover that concept....Ladies and Gentleman here are your 2009 all-stars oh I'm sorry I meant Yankees....The signing of Texeria is just another nail in the coffin of baseball....Can't you just hear teams like the Royals or the Ray's slogan next year..."Come see the future Yankees or Red Sox players while they are in your God forsaken city"....Hey Donald Fehr if you want to truly do a favor for your entire union (not just those who can get the largest contracts) you will sit down with owners and hash out a true and fair salary cap.....Until then New Yorkers and Bostonions will continue great their baseball pissing contest......

Dynasties can be good for sports. While we may root for the little guy we don't watch them. Just look at the Philly-Tampa World Series ratings or the St. Louis-Detroit World Series. They were terrible. This just makes it more fun to root against the Yankees.

i think twizt is a bit cranky.... i think its bs that large market teams just buy up high priced players at will.... i wish there was a salary cap.... it has done great things for the nfl.... and any given year you can have a cellar dwellar raise to the top the next....

The last thing I would call myself is a Yankees fan, but I have to defend them a bit here. They are playing by the rules. Other teams could spend money in an attempt to improve their team also, but they choose not to. What are they doing with all of the revenue sharing money that they get? Why not re-invest it back into your team? What are the Yankees supposed to do? Not improve their team if they have the opportunity to? Like I said, I don't really like them but I have to respect the fact that they go out there and try to win the World Series every year. As a fan, what more could you ask for? And I have to agree with the first respondent to this blog; since free agency began in MLB back in the 70's, many small-market teams have played in and won the World Series. The Twins have won two World Series, the Reds won one, the Pirates never got to the big dance, but they were very competitive in the late 80s and early 90s before they decided to sell the franchise down the river and dump their star players. The A's were there in back-to-back years in the late 80's; hell, even the Royals won in '85. The Marlins have won twice in the first 15 years of their history. Both times, their owner decided to be a freakin' cheapskate and purged the team of all of its talent. The freakin' Rays got to the World Series this year. If they can do it, anyone can. No excuses. For the first ten years of their existence, they were the model of ineptitude in baseball.
