The yankees are trying to buy another series title

With all due respect to a historically great franchise I must say that what the yankees are doing this offseason is awful. They are building a new "cathedral to baseball" in the bronx, which they had to ask the taxpayers for around $400 million more to complete, yet they somehow found enough to offer Sabathia $160 million and Burnett $80 million and that apparently is just the start. It's nice to see that the next generation of jerks, oh sorry I meant Steinbrenners, have learned from daddy's example....throw money after the problem....Why develop talent when you can overpay for it I always say...It's this philosophy that makes it so much fun to watch a team like the Rays drag the field with the yankees.....

The Yankees haven't been that successful in terms of World Series wins the last 5 years. When the Yankees were winning them regularly, it was due to the great corp of young players they drafted and developed. Guys like Jeter, Pettite, Rivera, Posada, etc. Not having a cap (or floor for some cheap owners in baseball) leads to these types of things.
