New Wii U IP (game)
Posted on October 16, 2011 at 04:28 PM.
Traditionally, every 5 years or so, we as gamers are fortunate enough to receive a new gaming system-and in the case of this console cycle...the Nintendo Wii U. But with the debut of a new video game system comes anticipation for new gaming software, and in the case of the Nintendo Wii U-anticipation and speculation for brand new IP's (new gaming/software franchise) which showcase and highlight the capabilities of Nintendo's new gaming console. The dilemma the Big N has as it prepares for the launch of it's new console is to which demographic should they develop and market this brand new IP to? The mainstream/****** gaming community which can make your system a cultural phenomenon or should they cater to the traditional gamer-the gamer who purchase and plays video games in droves. The complexities are further aggravated when you take into account that the new first party gaming franchise will more than likely be packaged in to either they Wii U itself, the stand alone 6 inch touch screen tablet controller, or possibly a fringe accessory such as the rebranded Wii Vitality sensor. But I have the game which will cater to both demographics! And that brand, spanking new IP is.......... A Mario Universe first person shooter!

When you look back at the original Wii and it's various pack ins and especially the Wii Play software pack-in, it's clear Nintendo had two objectives.....1. Sale controllers and #2. Introduce and educate the Wii's new gamers on various methods of play, in hopes of having them migrate over to more traditional forms of gaming media such as 3rd party franchises. But obviously this was a huge fail, with the majority of the new gamers choosing to game exclusively with the waggle (Carnival games or Just dance anyone...) rather than exploring other offerings on the Wii's vast library of games. With the new Mario first person shooter (FPS) you are immediately educating the Wii's early adopter (******/mainstream) gamers to the preferred method of gaming amongst the traditional gaming community (FPS) as well as familiarizing them with various Mario characters. You can take this concept a step further through the implementation of NUMEROUS 3rd party franchise characters making the game (solid snake, resident evil zombie, cover athlete of that years madden, batman, etc) to cross promote other offerings on the console. Taking this cross promotion concept further the Big N could tie it into the Wii U controller with an ad, which pops up on your personal Wii U controller screen following your win, which says something to the effect " you're destroying the competition with Solid snake, check out Solid Snake in his brand-new game... Metal Gear 5! Only on Wii U" Going back to the Mariio first person shooter, we have played Mario in every format except FPS. Imagine the map design in this one... a stage which has players exploring Samus's vast space ship, running and shooting throughout Bowser's Castle, or exploring the sights and sounds while tagging campers in the lush environment of Donkey Kong's Jungle! Similar to Mario kart and Super Smash bros, the game will have general weapons catered to the first person shooter genre as well as character specific weaponry! An invincible star for Mario which renders projectiles useless when shot at him, a freeze missle for Samus and the ability to morph into a ball-rolling and maneuvering through tight spaces throughout the map, with a character like Solid Snake possessing his range of weaponry from various metal gear games, or even the zombie from the Resident Evil series infecting various combatants with zombie bites and the infected spreading the virus and racking up kill points for the gamer who games as the zombie! And don't forget the unique play options that only the Wii U controller and it's 6 inch touch screen brings and this game has a ton of potential! But enough of what I think...would you purchase a First person shooter with various Mario characters which could be fun for the entire family. Obviously, the game would probably have no higher than a T for teen rating and would use a form of laser tag or paintball to keep with Nintendo's family oriented image. Sound off with opinions
