Keep Gameflow!
Posted on January 17, 2011 at 04:56 PM.
Looking back over this years Madden and it's much hyped Gameflow feature, I've come to the realization that this was probably the biggest addition to Madden in a long time, and if they keep it could transform the way we game via football forever!

When we analyze the true art and form of football and accept what madden is, it's a football game that's based on the game we see on TV and not the game we played as a child or in competitive sports. The majority of football fans fail to see the attention of detail that goes on behind the scenes-rather it's preparing or installing a game plan, bluffing and disguising play calls, seeing a particular players tendencies and adjusting in real time, or in other words recognizing the chess match that happens between the players and coaches! Gameflow, as vanilla as it is set the ground work for a smarter gaming experience that parallels an NFL world that doesn't translate well through TV! This is a game within a game and with time can revolutionize the way we play sports games if given the appropriate years to develop!

Here is what we need to make Madden Armageddon (2012) ****!

1. Analog passing- it's long overdue! I don't care how you make it happen, but make it happen!

2. Better feet to ground interaction- we need to sense the ground in Madden 2012. No more excuses! The physics between the foot and ground will make a more immersed gameplay experience.

3. NFL head coach's franchise mode- if you can't fit it in, figure out a way to mesh the two games together, similar to sonic/knuckles backward compatibility on the vintage sega genesis

4. Game flow 2.0- read above

5. An interactive sideline- this shouldn't be hard. Make a situational based sideline that responds to the action they see on the field. Program the sideline and divide them into 4 groups and make each group respond differently using a random AI logic. It will go a long way.

6. Referee mode- I for one thinks it would be cool to view the game of football through the eyes of the ref and get graded after each game. Was it a holding or not? Intentional grounding....make the call

All in all, My hope is that EA builds aggressively on some of the things they have given us since 2010s game. I loved gang tackling, but it took a step back in 2011. My hope is that this travesty doesn't happen to Game flow and that they sprinkle in some change ups and innovative experiences with what I posted above.

Any thoughts.....

If you like gameflow that's great, but if thats the main feature on the back of the box next year, (Gameflow 2.0). I'm going to be very sad. An interactive sideline/ endzone would be sick, but I think improving defensive gameplay should be EA's core focus. Bring back THE YEAR OF THE DEFENSE ("Fear the D")
