This Week in The Show 2012
An on-going experiment using only CPU vs CPU viewing with ZERO interaction by me, unless there's a glitch somewhere.
All 30 team Franchise mode with sliders using Shadia147's Old School set. Rosters are from the SCEA 3-3 -12 download.
Every single game will be CPUd in the MLB. Minor Leagues will be simmed.
This is a true test of the SCEAs creation. How does the game do with zero human input?

I believe that you can trace the collapse of American Culture to the advent of the Designated Hitter in 1973.
Think about it.
The idea that every body deserves to win. That style is more important than substance.
Before the DH, pitchers actually had to know how to bat or lay down a bunt. They didnt have someone else come in to do it for them. Pitchers actually made outs. They actually failed sometimes.
Since the DH, we're told "It's OK , you don't have to play by the rules, ... Read More

I have become a total Fanboy for The Show. For those of you on Xbox that havent seen it in depth...
I'm 55 years old. I've been playing Sports games since I was about 10.
All of that time, I had a vision of what I dreamed a Sports Game would some day be like.
Fantastic Graphics, true-life physics and animations, an in-depth career mode, and the enjoyment of playing the game consistantly day after day, week after week, and for years to come!
Frankly, I don't know what's ahead.. ... Read More

Columnists are jackals and no jackal has been known to live on grass once he has learned about meat — no matter who killed the meat for him.” — Ernest Hemingway
It was sometime during the aplitic pause between Games Three and Four that collectively, we sportswriters, an at times closed-minded fraternity hell-bent on human ... Read More

I've been thinking about this new Madden Career concept. And thinking about having Legend Coaches.
Sounds great right?
If I understand it right, you can now have Legend Coaches such as Lombardi or Landry coach your team. What I read said that along with that, you also will get Lombardi and Landry's playbooks which your team will run.
So let's think about this.... If I'm doing Madden this year, which I'm not, but if I were... Of course I'd want Lombardi on my Packers. What other ... Read More

I fell for it last year. Fool me once same on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
What do you say after being fooled over and over again for almost a decade?

I know Madden has some new people on board. And some things look like an honest effort to improve things.. But until I actually SEE results based on impressions from members here at OS after the game is out, I'm not willing to fall for the hype.

To the OPs here at OS who blog these news updates for Madden.. ... Read More

Say Hey Boys and Girls! It's Opening Day!
Hope springs eternal on Opening Day! Every Team believes that they can win this year.
And Opening Day began this year in Miami under the lights as the new look Miami Marlins took on the World Champion St Louis Cardinals.
All the excitement of opening a brand new ball park, the smell, the sounds.. Carlos Beltran will forever be remembered as the first player to get a hit. But to the Marlins joy, Logan Morrison will go into the record ... Read More

The Games for All of Us

With respect and admiration for, if not apologies to, the late Ernie Harwell, here's something adapted from his famous Induction Day speech at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Aug. 2, 1981, which itself was adapted from this 1955 essay. Stick Jockey published this last year on Thanksgiving weekend. I've updated it for this year, and I'd like for it to become a ... Read More
