16 things that would make madden 12 Great
Posted on August 11, 2010 at 05:45 PM.
i bought madden 11 at midnight tuesday, and i am enjoying the game, but there are still plenty of things it lacks...

Simply put, Madden 12 has the potential to be the best football game ever made.....and quite easily too, The developers over at Ea really just need to give the community what it wants and Go balls out on madden 12. here is my list of things, in no particular order that will make madden 12 the greatest football game ever

1. progressive lighting

2. franchise needs a complete overhaul, way more options, i want to build a new stadium but not move my team. league suspensions, hold outs, be able to have a 90 man roster at first and have to make cuts, sign players to practice squads etc. i wanna be able to adjust how i want to pay my player his money over his contract, either all up front, all at the end, in the middle, etc.

4. continuing in franchise, make preseason play like preseason, my back ups come in in the 2nd half but opposing teams 1st team stays on....lets have both switch...and in similar form to how they do in real life from 1st preseason game through the 4th. when a player gets hurt...and i put him on I.R. the computer still tells me i have to many ppl on my roster to sign someone, so then i have to cut someone i dont want to....when they are on I.R. that should remove him from the roster for that season.

3. we have signature animations for qb's, why not add some for halfbacks, wideouts, db's etc...

4. broadcast integration. they finally got rid of tom hammond, and thank you! but every other ea sports title (major sport) has broadcast integration, nba elite, ncaa football 11, and ncaa college basketball 11 had dual broadcast integration. i seriously think madden needs dual broadcast integration, preferably from cbs and fox since thats where the majority of games or broadcast. keep gus johnson and pair him up with like phil simms or someone, get buck and aikman from fox if possible. and blow us away with ur effort ea!

5. extra point overhaul! ok i know everyone was pissed bout this last year, and even more pissed to see they didnt change a thing, still no highlights, very robotic commentary. i mean, 2k5 had chris berman, mel kiper, trey wingo covering scores, highlights, injuries, trades, and college players...just like real life! the halftime show had berman narrating the highlights, and post game had suzy kulber doing interviews! common...that game was made 6 years ago....ea....u literally have no excuse to not give us this....since the extra point is nfl network based....give us rich eisen and gang doing post game and half time highlights, and do a highlight show with them also!!

6. give us some penalties please!! go through, look at the stats, make teams who are more penalized in real life get similar penalties in the game....everything we see on sunday right??

7. customizable celebrations- enough said

8. fix play action blocking

9. fix kick return blocking

10. bring back formation subs, this is what real nfl teams do....we should have that option, ncaa 11 gave it to us...common.

11. a few years ago madden gave us formation audibles....u could run the same play but audible to a diff formation...that needs to be brought back.

12. for create a player, steal a page from 2k and allow full facial design, this will also mean draft classes should have mostly different looking players.

13. more equipment options- ncaa 11 trumps madden 11 in this category

14. i know some of the stuff i have mentioned falls into this category but oh well....bring back all the things that ppl fell in love with madden on xbox and ps2. and my idea is bring all this back as options for ppl to use with in a game. to each his own but this allows people who liked certain things to play with it, and those who didnt not too. but i am talking :

playmaker
man lock on/off
vision cone
ea sports back track
lead blocker control
create a play
create a playbook

15. the addition of stragety pad had pissed alot of people off, and even tho they bringing back the old way to make adjustments, neither arent any good until Ea fixes the cpu qb. hardly ever in real life do qbs walk up and say hike....they always scan the defense and make adjustments.....ea should make the cpu qbs take at least 10-15 sec off play clock depending on situation.

16. remove hyper speed towards the ball...whether its receiver or db or lb, they all have this little burst of speed towards the ball, it needs to be gone.

alright there is my list. let me know what you think, or if you feel i missed anything....however i feel those are the major things that should be added to madden 12....and the majority of it shouldnt be that hard since they had it in previous versions, the toughest part will be presentation

Haha yeah numbering a little messed up...but I agree with everything except I would like a better superstar mode (something more like RTTS and My Player Mode) even if not for next year because franchise is more important

Franchise mode needs a complete overhaul. I think I enjoyed it better when training players progressed throughout the year. I've always been mad at how coaching style/scheme doesn't effect how good players are. Look at the Steelers and Ravens, their outside linebackers fit a specific mold. They are athletic ends, that get dropped back. Something madden never accounts for; you could take harrison and plug him into any defense and he will play the same. It wouldn't happen in real life. There is a little of this for DB's with man and zone ability, but there isn't for LB's or DT/DE. The same could be said of QB/WR. There is a reason Deon Branch was a forgotten man in SEA and that he can play in NE. Its all just the style of play.

I would also like to do away with pre-made draft classes, and maybe even ranked prospects in general. I think you should have to hire scouts and assign them to regions or conferences and make decisions based on what they report. This is part of the game that NCAA triumphs over madden.

Yeah... Player progession is A real issue. I mean I have Leinart and hes 70 overral. He throws for 4,000 yards 30 tds and 10 ints a 90 qb rating and hes 74 overall next season. WTF?

start by putting the real rules of football, in the game. at half time, the teams don't switch field positions. it's important in windy games because in real life each team plays with the wind once in the and of a half. in madden, the same team has it for both half endings. plus, at the coin toss, it's very bad indicated if you choose the wind to be with you or not.

Then, make a realistic game without forcing us the players to spend time tuning the game to be so. i guess ea pays guys to do that. it takes me 2, 3 months every year (if the updates doesn't altere the game to much) to tweak the sliders, to take madden from the arcade mode to te simulation mode.

yea obviously there is a lot that needs to be implemented and changed to make madden 12 really good. just the other day i was thinking they should kinda steal another page from 2k. this one from 2k bball where during the season u can send certain players to do drills. for us mini drills and u can potentially help a player improve during the season. i also think we should have different offseason drills we can send different groups of players too focusing on different aspects of the game. this will allow us to build the team we want. a ground it out team with a power back. or we can make our version of the greatest show on turf. we can send players to do different drills to help dictate the type of defense we want based on the ratings the drills effect.

i also think they need to change what ratings are shown for players. for tom brady. i dont need to to see what his defensive ratings are. in fact the only ratings i need to see are speed, awareness, agility, acceleration, injury, swagger, and pass related ratings. this should be implemented for all positions. if we change a players position. then it shows us what his ratings for that position are. everything else is just irrelevant.

weather affects and field degregation are needed. along with dirty unis. it should be able to snow flurries without having snow on the ground.

i think they should add ratings of aggressiveness, consistency, likeliness to get penalized.

and 1 other thing. my franchise teams defense is built of speed. i want a fast defense. dont get beat deep. keep everything in front of me. with my gameplan on defense i normally play a very solid defensive game. but i am sick of cpu teams hardly ever having long drives to score. its always a big play. and what pisses me off about it....its that its a big play off of a 7 yard pass and they cpu breaks like 6 tackles and is gone. happens AAAAAAAAAAAAALLL THE TIME. its very frustrating that thats the way the cpu scores.

I like every idea said, also
1. Jerseys being pulled, coming loose from being tucked in, dasean Jackson almost never has his jersey tucked in through out the game, having there shoulder pads pop out over there jerseys happens all the time in games,
2, players streching for the extra yard or touchdown while they are being brought down close to goading or 1 st down or every down.
3, this isn't to important but crowd graphics and player sideline graphics are horrible, NHL and 2k basketball look so much more real because or there graphics.
4, when it is cold out players should be able to wear turtle necks, packers players always have them on, and u have ur hand warmers, and towels but do u see ur players ever use them during the game?
5. A he'll of a lot more screen shots would be awesome,
6. Like u said more player celebrations maybe having the option to throw the ball into the stands or dunk over the goal post,
7, a lot more toe taps, different types of catches, and actually being able to manually dive for a catch, how have they not thought of this yet? Literally the toe taps suck,
8. Graphics r pretty good but not mind blowing let 2k basketball or NHL 2011.
9. I play a franchise and after a few years I get bored of the same team sometimes, u used to be able to switch ownership in franchise, what went threw there mind to get rid of that?
10. I could go on for years about improvement in this game but it's sad to see the creaters of madden to never listen to there fans, so it's pretty much a waste of time to complain about it,
11. 1 more thing that's important, not ever football players hair is in a pony tail alright, let the damn hair go wild like Troy polamalu and Tom Brady's hair or Dan carpenter aj hawks hair is never in a pony tail, come on madden get in the game!!!!!!!

Oh yea the pile ons in the end zone should move when u hit them , and when it's raining and snowing and the stands are empty is stupid when it's a playoff game or an important end of season game, fans don't get scared of a little rain or snow when the game is on the line, and maybe when it is a blow out actually show the fans walking up or down the sakes to leave not just randomly doing it.
