Just watched the Grizzlies @ Trailblazers video for like the 10th time, and I was reading some comments made about PG's and if they are the only ones who initiate the offense and where you can start a play on the floor. Let me say first, I like the play calling system with the blue circle. It's for people who don't run plays and need that indicator to help set them up and ultimately see the play thru. It works as a facilitator if you will to get you thru that play. Clearly you can turn this off anytime you want.
Running plays is about repetition. The more you run a play, the more familiar it becomes. On top of that, the more you know a play, more options open up as far as what you want to do and how you can exploit the defense. (everyone should know this)
In the NBA, the play is called as the ball is being brought up court. Guys get into their positions, and once the ball handler (whomever it is) gets to a certain point (where ever that may be), guys will begin their motions to execute said play. (most people know this, but forget they know this)
You want realism, call the play on you way up the court, don't wait to get the ball over the half court line and then call the play allowing the defense to react. Call the play, get to your spot where it starts and then execute. Its about knowing your offense knowing what to call and when to call it. (most people forget this completely and say the system is "broken, fix it"....smh)
Just remember a play can be called anywhere on the court (IRL or the virtual one) but you have to get to your spot where the offense starts so that your teammates "know" when to start running thru the motions.
In Czar's video's, you can clearly see that he merely touches the blue circle to get things started and then moves around naturally as the play develops. Guess what gripers; YOU CAN DO THAT TOO!! It makes me laugh when people talk about something or say something that really makes no sense. If you play basketball, you know most plays start in the middle of the floor above the 3 point line. No play starts in the corner behind the 3 point line. None. Only play you can run in that situation is a pick and roll. No one is going to call a play at the free throw line. No room to get the play started or anything else you can think of. And no one is going to call a play in the post to set up an offense. No one. NO. ONE. You call the play at the top, ball goes into the post and from there the play keeps on keep keepin on. Kendrick Perkins isn't going to initiate a 3 2 flare if he is suppose to be the one setting the down screen that Pierce will use who then starts dribble penetration to get Ray Allen's man to pinch in thus giving Ray the space needed to score.
And lastly for those that want to make sure PG isn't the only position with the option to start plays, gotta learn the play system to know what plays start with who. I just wonder if people are thinking about what they're saying when they want to run a play with someone else other than the PG. Like I get wanting to run a play that is set up for Mayo to get it started. But are you going to call a 2 3 dive with Rudy Gay starting the play? Might as well call a pick from OJ and the dive to the basket yourself, no need to really have OJ set anything up if you have someone like gay who can slash pretty good on his own. Is OJ gonna throw an alley? he can, but again what's the point when you can eliminate that by doing what you already know is going to happen.
Go back and watch all the video for 2K11, watch how plays develop when the user calls em. look who is calling the play and see if the user is doing the right thing. When 2K11 comes out, to be a master at this play system, you will need to spend as much time in the practice gym as you do doing anything else to get them to run just as efficiently as a pro team does. I know I will.
Can't decide who to run with yet(Thunder, Hornets, Chicago, Milwaukee, or maybe one of the classic Bulls teams). Gotta see who I like using the new isomotion with first but this year is going to be great.

If I had a 360 man I def would (a lot people that play 2K have a 360 I'm learning on this site, maybe I'll have to invest in one).

sorry you didn't like @hail2thechief....what's that gotta do with me though lol?! I don't work for 2K (but if your someone who does work 2K and is looking for pure insight, I'm your man). So it doesn't bother me that you didn't like the demo. Everyone has their own preference in gaming so whatever you like best stick with that homey. I liked the demo and I cannot wait for the game. I've played both demos and they both bring something unique to the table but to be honest, EA needs a lot more polish right now than 2K.
