So I started the year 5-2 by taking the series wins over division rivals Cubs and Cardinals. Taking on the Phillies now, a team that can absolutely mash the baseball.

However, I made a BLOCKBUSTER trade. In fitting with the team philosophy I called up Baltimore and I saw a player that I felt fit the profile that I wish to build around. That player is none other than T.J. Reed Jr. T.J. is a 23 year old second baseman who who hit and run extremely fast. He doesn't have great power, but being that he is only 23, I hope that he can grow into his body a bit more. Putting him in the infield alongside Flash they will be able to cover a ton of infield ground and when I bring up Chase Mitchell, my infield will oozing young talent.

He did not come cheap as I had to give up my star Michael McCoy as well as Derek Hills who was young and who I was high on. I also had to give away starter Devon Sampson. A steep price, but I felt a necessary one as we are fully committing to the youth movement.

It's always risky when you give up 3 major leaguers for one player. However, when that player is T.J. Reed Jr. sometimes you have to roll the dice.

Parting with Derek Hills Jr. is the toughest part for me. He was a young asset that I had future plans for, but I have no need for him at 2B anymore with T.J. however it still bothers me that I had to throw him in the deal.
