LAKERS MY LEAGUE - SEASON 1 EPISODE 3
Posted on May 5, 2015 at 02:09 PM.
The Lakers made a final move at the deadline, consisting of Nick Young and a 2nd rounder going to the Nets in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic and Sergey Karasev. This move frees up cap space and provides the team with two young wing players to work with. I cut Blair to free roster space.
Here is a breakdown of the roster as it is and a commentary on each player:

POINT GUARDS:

Jordan Clarkson: Clarkson played very well in his first season, earning all-rookie 1st team honors. He had several games with 10+ assists and proved he could finish inside. His jumpshot steadily improved as well. The question with him is whether he can be the franchise's PG of the future.

Jeremy Lin: Not a player I like. He was a defensive liability and not a major producer off the bench. We lost all the games he started when JC was injured. Won't resign him this offseason.

Jorge Gutierrez: Received very little playing time, but a good defender at the position.

SHOOTING GUARDS:

Kobe Bryant: Steadily declined this season and got injured a lot. However, he managed to average over 18 points a game and was the only player I could rely on in crunch time.

Jabari Brown: Pleasant surprise this season. Spark plug scorer who can shoot and finish through contact. Undersized and not a great defender but I will definitely resign him.

Wayne Ellington: Solid player who does not do anything very well. Responded when called upon but not a part of the future.

Bojan Bogdanovic: Struggled with his outside shot but showed great improvement. Looking forward to seeing his development in the next few years.

SMALL FORWARDS:

Wes Johnson: Played very well during the season. I always put him against the opponent's best player and he responded. Very athletic and can shoot it too.

Sergey Karasev: Didn't see much playing time this season. Talented offensively but has to improve his 3pt shot in order to earn more playing time.

Ryan Kelly: Good shooter and passer but really unathletic.

POWER FORWARDS:

Julius Randle: Great rebounder and scorer inside. Developed his jumper but his defensive defficiencies are hard to overlook. If he does not improve I will be forced to look at another options.

Carlos Boozer: Had a good season. I used him a lot on pick-and-pops and it worked, but his defense is so poor I won't resign him.

CENTERS:

John Henson: Missed lots of time due to injury and was frankly a little disappointing when he played. The big thing is that he provides the team with some quality defense inside.

Robert Sacre: Was very good all-around. Can rebound, defend and score the mid-range jumper. Played very well when starting in place of Henson. Will resign.

Miroslav Raduljica: Had some great moments while starting at the beginning of the season but fell out of the rotation later. A skilled big man who can score and rebound.

THE NEXT EPISODE WILL FEATURE THE END OF THE SEASON AND THE DRAFT!!!
AS ALWAYS, SUGGESTIONS, QUESTIONS AND OPINIONS ARE APPRECIATED!!!
