The Hawks have improved to 500 after beating the Knicks in the first meeting of two games this week. The Hawks led the Knicks the entire way and withstand a late game surge to win the game 78-73 in the Highlight Factory last night. Led by Jeff Teague the Hawks practically did as they pleased on their way to even up their record to 4-4. Teague dished out assist after assist on his way to Player of the Game with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assist. Melo was held in single digits as Demmarre Carroll did a good job keeping the ball out of his hands. The Hawks will travel to MSG three days from now for a rematch.

The Hawks will face the Knicks twice this week once at home and once on the road. Both team are going into the game struggling. The Knicks are currently sitting at 3-3 while the Hawks are trying to make it to 500 currently at 3-4. Statistically both teams are just about dead even. The only difference on the floor will be the scoring machine who goes by the name of Melo on the Knicks. Demarre Carroll will have his hands full trying to guard the versatile sf on both nights. Al Horford has began to pick up a head of steam since his first couple of games. Will he be able to dominate the Knicks defensive anchor in the middle by the name of Tyson Chandler and catapult the Hawks to 500 record?

The Atlanta Hawks visited the Staples Center to take on Kobe Bryant and the Lakers tonight. Little did the crowd know it was going to be Jordan Hill's night. The 6'10" center filled in for an injured Pau Gasol with a permanent starting job in mind. Hill dominated the Hawks bigs on both ends of the floor scoring 16 points and grabbing 17 boards. 7 of those boards coming on the offensive end.
The Hawks found themselves in a deep hole early. Down by as many as 20 they fought their way back in the game led by Luis Williams and his 21 points. Demarre Carroll did a good job keeping the ball out of Kobe's hands limiting him to 10 points on the night. The Hawks demise came from poor rebounding and horrendous free throw shooting. The Lakers out rebounded the Hawks 39 to 23 with 18 coming on the offensive end which led to 21 second chance points. Shooting 64% didn't help matters as the Hawks went on to lose by 5. Up next the Hawks look to bounce back against the Sacramento Kings.

Coming off of a thrilling victory at home the Hawks travel to LA to take on Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. The last time the two teams faced off Kobe Bryant left the arena with what would be a season ending injury. Kobe says he looks forward to this game and plans on breaking his 81 point game record. Both rosters have changed since the last meeting and the Lakers are going into this game with a hurt Pau Gasol. We expect him to play with a bruised heel but is listed as day to day.

The Hawks traveled to Dallas to take on Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks to tip off the 2013 season. Come to find out there is a new sheriff in town who goes by the name of Monta Ellis. The Hawks dug a deep hole in the first quarter starting the game off 1-7 from the field. Al Horford was big keeping them close getting to the line frequently in the first half. While the bigs battled it out and began to cancel each other out it came down to guard play. The Mavericks backcourt duo of Harris and Ellis began to takeover. Ellis played exceptionally well taking what ever the defense gave him scoring 21 points on 8 of 16 scoring. Luis Williams led all scorers on the Hawks.

As we approach the 2013 NBA season the Atlanta Hawks find themselves in a tough uphill battle. With the entire Eastern Conference making moves to compete with the Miami Heat the small market Hawks look to sneak into the playoffs with hard work and dedication.
With the offseason exit of Josh Smith the Hawks look to Al Horford to take on the role as the leader of the team. Horford has some decent players around him but no superstar. The newly acquired power forward Paul Milsap looks to compliment Horford on the blocks and has already proven to be a low post threat. If the Hawks can manage to play some good team ball look out for them to make some noise in the east.
