NBA Mock Draft Round 1
Posted on June 21, 2012 at 12:16 PM.
With the 2012 NBA Draft just one week away, we get to see the future of the NBA from New Orleans with the first pick to the Lakers with the 60th pick. This is my 1st round mock draft with descriptions for the lottery picks.

#1 New Orleans Hornets

Anthony Davis, Center, Kentucky.
This one is a no-brainer, Davis is the top overall player from this past college season and will be taken by New Orleans first overall on Thursday Night. He should bring much excitement to the city and well as a defensive presence.

#2 Charlotte Bobcats

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist SF Kentucky
Kentucky goes 1-2 with the top picks as Charlotte will take MKG 2nd overall. MKG knows how to play and can lead a team. He should help out a bad Bobcats team that hopes to look to the future from a 7-59 record in 2011-12.

#3 Washington Wizards
Harrison Barnes SF North Carolina
With the recent addition of Emeka Okafor to Washinton they don't really need a big man with having Okafor and Nene. So they will choose North Carolina's Harrison Barnes with the`third pick. Barnes is a scorer who can pair up with John Wall and form a team for the next 10+ years.

#4 Cleveland Cavaliers
Bradley Beal SG Florida
This would be a good pick for the Cavs as he and Kyrie Irving can attempt to create one of the youngest back-courts in the NBA.

#5 Sacramento Kings
Andre Drummond PF UCONN
With DeMarcus Cousins at Center and Drummond at PF, the Kings can form a pretty good front-court duo. Sacramento hopes to repeat the magic when they took Isaiah Thomas in last years draft.

#6 Portland Trail Blazers
Myers Leonard Center Illinois
If Andre Drummond is available when the Blazers are on the clock, look for them to take Drummond. Otherwise, they will take the 7 footer from Illinois, Myers Leonard. Leonard had a breakout season for the Illini, and has the height to be a special player in the NBA as a Center.

#7 Golden State Warriors
Austin Rivers SG Duke
With three 7 footers, I doubt that Golden State will take a big man with the 7th pick. They could take anyone from Damien Lillard from Weber State to Austin Rivers of Duke. I think they will take Austin Rivers. He brings the shooting that Golden State loves.

#8 Toronto Raptors
Jeremy Lamb SG UCONN
The Raptors really like Lamb and he is a good fit for the Raptors. He is athletic, he can score, and he was one of the most important players to the Huskies National Championship in 2011. He didn't have the leadership ability many scouts wanted him to have in 2012 but it should be a safe pick for Toronto at #8.

#9 Detroit Pistons
Terrence Ross SG Washington
The Pistons need a Shooting Guard and Terrence Ross is a legitimate 2-Guard. He can shoot as well as rebound the ball. He is a good pick for Detroit at 9.

#10 New Orleans Hornets
Tyler Zeller PF/C North Carolina
Tyler Zeller is NBA ready as a PF/C, played 4 years at UNC, which gives him an advantage over most rookie big men. He is very experienced and knows how to play the game. His size is great for a PF at 6'11" and alongside with Anthony Davis, great young front-court players.

#11 Portland Trail Blazers
Damian Lillard PG Weber State
Portland needs a Point, Raymond Felton has not lived up to his expectations yet to this point in Portland. So they will take Weber State's Point Guard Damian Lillard with the 11th pick, Lillard is a scorer, he led the nation in scoring with 24.5 PPG.

#12 Milwaukee Bucks
John Henson Center North Carolina
John Henson brings length to the Bucks that they lost when they traded Andrew Bogut. His 7'6" wingspan will help become a dominating defensive presence in the NBA.

#13 Phoenix Suns
Dion Waiters SG Syracuse
Reports have surfaced at the Draft Combine that Dion Waiters has been promised that the Suns will take him with the 14th pick. He brings a scoring player at the 2-Guard position which is something the Suns have lacked for years since the Vince Carter days.

#14 Houston Rockets
Perry Jones PF Baylor
Houston stays close when picking Jones, as Houston is only 3
½ hours away from Waco, TX. Perry Jones is a great player and would be a top-5 pick but teams are very concerned about Jones' assertiveness and ability to realize his potential. One scout mentions that Jones' self-esteem is one of the lowest he has seen.

#15 Philadelphia 76ers
Arnett Moultrie PF Mississippi State

#16 Houston Rockets
Marquis Teague PG Kentucky

#17 Dallas Mavericks
Kendall Marshall PG North Carolina

#18 Minnesota Timberwolves
Terrence Jones SF Kentucky

#19 Orlando Magic
Moe Harkless SF St. Johns

#20 Denver Nuggets
Andrew Nicholson PF St. Bonaventure

#21 Boston Celtics
John Jenkins SG Vanderbilt

#22 Boston Celtics
Royce White SF Iowa State

#23 Atlanta Hawks
Jeffery Taylor SF Vanderbilt

#24 Cleveland Cavaliers
Fab Melo Center Syracuse

#25 Memphis Grizzles
Doron Lamb SG Kentucky

#26 Indiana Pacers
Quincy Miller SF Baylor

#27 Miami Heat
Jared Cunningham SG Oregon State

#28 Oklahoma City Thunder
Khris Middleton SG Texas A&M

#29 Chicago Bulls
Festus Ezeli C Vanderbilt

#30 Golden State Warriors
Kevin Jones SF West Virginia

Where is Thomas Robinson on this?

# 2 Kentucky_Wildcat23 @ Jun 21
I think the Wizards would rather have Bradley Beal than Barnes. They need a Scorer and Beal gives them that more than Barnes.

I have to believe that Miami will draft a big man in the draft. Probably Ezeli they need someone to help in the paint more than in the SG spot.

I forgot Robinson I'll edit this one. I was half asleep when I did this. I'll update it tomorrow. I agree with you Kentucky on that. But I still think Washington will still take Barnes at 3.
