The NFL fines and disciplines players any way they want and the NFLPA just bends over. The most popular and profitable sport in North America and it's union is a gutless piece of crap. The way they have fined some of the defensive guys, with no real appeal process, has been poor imo and criticized by many. But the NFLPA just shuts its mouth and does nothing about it.

Now Brett Favre gets fined $50,000 for not co-operating in the Sterger case? I've lost a lot of respect for the guy over the last few years but since when was keeping your mouth shut a crime? You can plead the 5th in a court of law but not the court of Goodell? What kind of system is this when someone can just make up the rules and punishments as they go along with no opposition or appeal process? The NFLPA is a joke. Even if the current CBA allows the NFL/Goodell to do this they should be speaking out. Instead they just collect a cut of the players cheques and keep their mouths shut. Gene Upshaw was labelled an NFL lackey in the past. DeMaurice Smith doesn't look much different right now.

There is an appeals process, but Roger Goddell Castro isn't about to overturn his own sentences... In my opinion, all appeals should go before an independent, unaffiliated arbitrator. The NFLPA will appeal this fine, I assume, only to have Goddell uphold it.

That's my biggest beef. There isn't a neutral party to hear appeals. A player can only ask Goodell to reconsider.
