Madden 11 Demo
Posted on July 27, 2010 at 10:50 PM.
So I just downloaded the Madden 11 demo. Two words: Not Again.

Problems:
Gameflow-Didn't we used to call that Ask Madden?
No consecutive hit tackles(where a player can join in on a tackle to stop forward progress)
Static blocking(lineman don't seem to push forwards or backwards when engaged)
Running animations look pretty bad, too stiff.
I just tore my ACL just watching locomotion; is every running back Barry Sanders now?
Announcers get pretty annoying after awhile, too over the top at times.
Kick meter is changed. It's not worse, but didn't need changing.
Sponsor crap gets annoying, and every player seemed to celebrate about the same anyway(So much for swagger, huh?)
Why were defensive shifts changed to the D-Pad? They are almost impossible to get done before the snap now.

I did notice that the rocket catch has been addressed. However, if you throw a pass to the flat as soon as you can, you can cheap out a rocket catch, so not quite the whole cheese.

Well, I sold my NCAA 11 copy for $50 (go me!) and EA, well, I see no reason to bother with them until they get their problems fixed. Well, I'm gonna go preorder Split/Second for the PS3 and go get something to help with the aforementioned rage. In the meantime, feel free to comment, argue, flame, or whatever emotion I garnered from you. As long as you're feeling something, whether it be acceptance, rage, sadness, disappointment, or even awkwardness, my job is done.

I agree completely. Apparently Gameflow is supposed to mimic the play calls of the real teams, but how are we supposed to know that? And I wrote a whole blog entry about the commentating in sports games if you want to check it out

Yeah, I know. I should try to post this on EA boards. Also, try switching the teams in the demo. Even with the Colts as the home team they still play in East Rutherford. LAME, even by demo standards.

Good news! You can find the OP on EA's forums under the feedback section for madden. I wanna see how long it takes until it gets removed. ^_^

Plus, a demo is pretty much the finished product, just without all of the modes. No major breakthroughs in gameplay will be made until a patch is released for the full game.

You lost me when you said you sold NCAA 11.

It's from a previous blog I wrote where I stated I was planning on selling it, because I saw no reason to continue playing it.

I agree with Gameflow just being Madden 2.0 - I actually wrote a blog a couple months ago about that. Locomotion is a quality addition though (with the right sliders) and the graphics and animations I thought were an improvement especially for receivers. I will play Madden for one more year trying to keep a positive outlook, but if they dont put a real time physics engine in next year..im gonna have to walk

The fact of the matter is if EA is trying for the most sim experience possible, we shouldn't have to play with the sliders to fine tune the game to be as sim as possible. The default settings should be the best possible football simulation. Plus, gameflow is a cheap way to liquidate stock on headsets they needed to sell anyway.

BTW, I checked my post on the EA boards. People agree with me! ON EA's BOARDS! It's amazing!
