LeBron James: Cleveland Fallout
Posted on July 9, 2010 at 07:44 AM.
A little sore Cleveland? I mean, you're acting like spoiled children.

Here's a quote from owner Dan Gilbert (courtesy of the Wall Street Journal Blog):
“As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier. This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his 'decision' unlike anything ever 'witnessed' in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment. On the prized championship rings sought by many, Gilbert stated “I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA Championship before Self-Titled 'King' wins one.”

WOW. Hurt much? Maybe if you surrounded him with more capable, younger talent, he wouldn't have left. Instead, he had a center that's long past his prime (Shaq), another center who can't stay healthy (Ilgauskas), a point guard not many had heard of (Moe Williams), an overrated forward (Jamison), and a forward who is more passive than the French army (Varejao).

No wonder he left. I'd leave too.

Leave your comments on this whole fiasco.

Also, to Dan Gilbert: get some Vagisil.

I don't have an issue with LeBron waiting to make a decision. That is in his right. He had until the announcement date to make up his mind and way out his options. He isn't the first to do this and won't be the last.

Where LeBron went wrong, IMO, is to declare his decision is a ridiculous episodic interview. Very poor decision.

In regards to the owner not knowing, the owner should have been better prepared regardless of the decision. Owners are smart business people and adapting to changes are what owners have to do. What if LeBron had a career-ending injury? What would the owner do then? The owner knew that LeBron leaving was a possibility but he failed to plan ahead.

Again, LeBron leaving isn't that huge of an issue. How he announced it is....

The owner went overboard. He couldn't control the emotions. I think he was genuinely hurt.

Hey guys. New quote from a fan in Akron (courtesy of the Lebron Sound off on ESPN):

"Please elevate Cleveland to #1 on your Levels of Losing list. I want to be #1 in SOMETHING. We had a LeBronfire last night ... I burned everything I own with his name on it. My wife could sleep with my father and I wouldn't feel this betrayed. Born here. Raised here. Played here. Betrayed here."

I don't know what to say, really.

Can we stop with the whole "Cleveland never surrounded LeBron with talent" argument? 2 years in a row with the league's best record. Let's get real.

If you dont live in Ohio you wont understand how it feels to lose somebody like Lebron. They been through alot over the years so yes its going to kill their souls when Lebron said he was leaving. And the way he did it was wrong also, waiting till all the good free agents was takin. He knew he was leaving months before his decision all along. Lebron wasnt even man enough to tell the cavs organization that he was leaving. How can you do that your own people like that, those people gave him everything since he was in high school. So Evil!
