Fantasy Football Thoughts
Posted on July 2, 2010 at 05:38 AM.
With the football season just a couple months away, I've been preparing for fantasy football. I've come to some key points on how to draft my team. Feel free to respond and give your own (or enlighten me on) ways to success in fantasy football.

1. QB's will quietly become fantasy gamechangers.
Let's face it, running backs with Chris Johnson like numbers are disappearing in favor of two back systems.

In contrast, 31% [10 out of 32] starting QB's (Schaub, P. Manning, Romo, Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rivers, Favre, E. Manning) had 4,000 or more passing yards. While they don't have the point system in leagues in their favor, don't overlook them.

2. Other than the Jets, the D/ST is a crapshoot.
The Jets have the best defense in the league right now. End of story.

What about after them? The Packers? Ravens? Steelers? Saints? Bears? Giants? Honestly, if you don't get the Jets, don't fret on who's better than who. Some teams have better defenses than special teams; some, the other way around.

3. Draft your WR's on the QB's skill, not on the WR's themselves.
If the QB cannot get the ball to the WR, that WR's useless.
Case in point, Steve Smith from NYG, 1,220 yds. Steve Smith from CAR, 982 yds.

4. Chris Johnson will disappoint next year.
Yes I said it. History serves as a great teacher to this point. Running backs that dominate one year slide off in subsequent years.
Examples: Jamal Lewis, Ladainian Tomlinson, Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson. I firmly believe Chris will be no different.

Let me know what you think. Or just call me an idiot and leave. Either way, thanks for reading.
