16-15 The Yankees Hold on

This was the last game of a three game series with the White Sox. The Yankees started the game strong exploding for 6 runs in the 2nd inning on the strength of a 3 run HR from Mark Teixeira. In the 3rd inning they score another 6 runs. This time it was Nick Johnson who came up big with a Grand Slam. This was big for Nick because he entered the game hitting .245 with 1-HR 8-RBI's. Javier Vasquez was cruising along on the mount until the 5th inning. In the 5th he gave up 2 runs. Then in the 6th inning he gave up another 4 runs, 2 on solo homers.I'd seen enough of Vasquez,so I go to my long relieve man Sergio Mitre. Mitre gets lit up in the 7th for 4 runs. I am still up by 2 but the game went from a blow out to a nail-biter. I let Mitre start the 8th inning so that he could face the right handed batter that was going to leading off. I had Damaso Marte getting ready in the bullpen for the parade of Lefties that were coming up after their lead off guy. Mitre gave up a hit to the lead-off man. I bring in Marte and gives up 4 more hits. The White Sox are now UP 14-12.Even though I am down by 2 I started warming up Mariano Rivera encase I got the lead and Chan Ho Park if I was still losing. In the bottom of the eighth with one out Robinson Cano got a walk and Jorge Posada grounded into a double play. Top of the 9th, I just left Marte in the game because I was frustrated. He gets the first man out,but gives up 2 more doubles. I'm down 15-12. I've blown a 12 run lead. I had Rivera and Park warming in up and since it wasn't a save situation I bring in Park. He gets 2 infield pop-up. Now it is the bottom of the ninth my first guy up is Curtis Granderson. He is facing their closer. Granderson draws a 6 pitch walk. My next guy up is Nick Swisher, who had been struggling mightly, goes up 2-0 on their closer. He gets a low breaking ball on 2-0 and deposit's it in the right field stands. I'm getting closer but I'm still down by 1. They change pitchers. The next batter up is Brett Gardner. He hits a line drive that I think will be a gapper, but their Left Fielder gets to it. Now I have one out. Next guy up is Derek Jeter. He gets a base hit to right. Here comes Nick Johnson again. I pause the game to see what his plate vision plate vision rating is. I see that it is high so I am just hoping he either can get a walk or a base hit to keep the inning alive for Teixeira. Nick works the count to 2-1. I guess the pitcher is going to throw a fastball (I didn't use the guess pitch/location option because that usually throws me off) and I guessed right Nick crushes it deep to right out of the park. I get the Home Run Camera and the walk-off victory animations. I know I going to lose some games even playing at this level I'm just glad I didn't lose last night.
