MLB 11 The Show (Learning to Play at a higher level)
Posted on June 15, 2011 at 12:36 PM.
I am writing my journey this year with the new MLB 11 The Show game. This year I plan to play a season at All-Star level using all analog controls. I don't expect much this year but I want to play at a higher level. My season will start on June 18 plan to finish in September. I've had the game since release date and I've had a really hard time learning to play the game with the new analog controls at All-Star Level. The pitching I got in the first week. The fielding I got down about one week ago. The Hitting, I am still having a hard time. I am trying learning patience and plate discipline. I'm very frustrated with it. Last night the CPU pitched a perfect game against me. There were two ways I could have gone after that happened. I could quit or I could take a couple of days off and refocus. Of course I am going to do the latter. I don't know how to quit. I am taking a couple of days off from the game and I will start a franchise with the Yankees. I will start with the spring training and use all the games as learning tools. I will go batting practice before each game. I'll no more than 2 games at any session. I don't plan on winning 100 plus games this year. I don't even know if I'll make the playoff, but I want to play at a higher level and I think the more I learn about MLB 11 the show the more I'll learn about the real game and get a greater appreciation of the real game when I watch it on television. I'll be spending these next few days before my season starts looking over all the analog hitting tips on the site and any where else. Try and find a method that will work for me and apply it. I've never played organized baseball so I don't have any training to go on. This season like last year is new journey for me and my love of sports.

Why don't you try the classic controls instead of investing so much time and energy on having to learn the analog controls. I thought the analog controls was a change made for the sake of making a change. I'm glad they still gave us the option to use the classic controls and not force this gimmick down our throats.

Hi John, Thank you for the response. I hear where you coming from. I figure I'll give it one more month. I'm a little stubborn I really don't like to let anything beat me. I always believe that playing a game with the new functions will give you the total experience. I will be giving updates weekly. Even if switch back to classic I'll still play at All-Star. I am committed to that.
