PUYD Online Rules

Time Commitment/Scheduling:

We all have lives. Family issues and your personal life should come first. Some things are unavoidable and are obviously excusable.

That being said, by joining this league you are making a commitment of sorts with regards to your free time, as is everyone else in the league.

This is a long way of saying, "Be committed to playing your games."

For those who are unfamiliar with MLB Online

It's an open schedule and the games and series of the year don't have to be played in order. Play whoever is available and as many games as you want- I'd hope everyone can make time to play 4-5 games a week. Also, don't overdo it. No one wants to have all of their games played and be stuck waiting around for days/weeks for the season to wrap up and postseason to begin.

Gameplay:

RF forceouts at 1B. On balls hit to RF, do not throw to 1B in an effort to force out the runner. This has been possible in past versions of the show and I can't confirm its presence in 17, but we will observe this rule regardless. It is highly unrealistic.

RF forceout at 2B. In MLB 15, there was an animation where a ball hit between 1B and 2B would cause an animation where the runner a 1B would stop to avoid hitting it and let it through. This slowed the runner down (obviously) and when paired with the RF's arm strength rating, meant it was possible to throw this man out. Just like the previous rule, we will be observing this. Throw to the cutoff man instead.

Balks are on, as usual. The pitcher controls the pace of the game. If there are no runners on base, you can take as little as a few seconds between pitches.
Some playerss like to take a second or two longer. There is no rule for how quickly you have to pitch with the bases empty.
With runners on, however, you must come to a complete stop before delivering the pitch. Even with balks on, you could still quick pitch and a balk would not be called- even with runners on base.

Exploiting the game:
Obviously, bugs and glitches come up. To maximize enjoyment and minimize BS, please follow these rules:

Do not take an extra base on the OF glitch.
Do not abuse bunting in any situation. These have proven far too difficult to defense. This includes squeeze plays.
Do not early steal. Start the attempt after the pitcher begins his motion. In other words: do not hold L2 to steal as the pitcher is in his motion. Do not steal and bunt either. Only bunt as a sacrifice when runners are on.
Do NOT take extra bases on slow animations. Only on real errors should you advance. (Supposedly this is fixed for MLB 17)
Also, don't return your runner to 1B on a steal attempt once you've committed to sending him. This happens mostly in case of a pitchout but the catcher to 2B animation was way too slow and couldn't even snap throw to 1B quickly enough to get the runner. In real life, said runner would be a dead duck.

Fake bunting is not allowable. Do not show bunt and pull it back if you have no intention of bunting. This is especially true with a power hitter on deck.

Laggy baserunning: this occasionally happens where a player tries to control several different baserunners and things get logjammed. If an opponent is trying to fix an obvious blunder, let them. An example would be a runner tagging up at 3B but every runner tagging up and going instead.

Pitching Rotations: Use your whole 5-man rotation. Feel free to adjust the order and pull guys out and drop them down to the minors, make call-ups and so on. You should be using 5 on a regular basis.

Do not pull a pitcher in the middle of an at-bat unless he gets injured.

Do not concede games. All games, and all 27 outs must be played out. If you foresee that you are going to have a time issue then please do not start a game.
The only exception is a real life issue, which of course is a totally different situation. This is really applying to a rout. You quit on a game, you quit on the league.

Spiking pitches/dirtballs. These are fine but do not abuse them, especially when looking for a strikeout.

Difficulty/Settings:

Any hitting interface is allowed, as is any pitching interface, as is any throwing interface. It's your call.

Hitting and Pitching difficulty will be on All Star but we may adjust this if it is proving too hard or too easy to score or prevent runs.

K Zone and hot zones will be on.

Guess pitch rule will be updated at a later time.

Trades:

This will be updated at a later time.

Free Agents:
During the initial season we will have a draft to pick up 1 free agent. The draft order will be based on the reverse record of the real MLB teams' 2016 season record.
After the draft is complete, it will be a first-come, first-serve but you can only pick up 2 more free agents max for the season. For subsequent seasons there is the offseason free agency period to address free agents. However, in all subsequent seasons during the season you can only pick up a max of two players on a first-come, first-serve basis.

ALL GAMES MUST BE STREAMED- TWITCH/YOUTUBE. I don't care how but it has to happen. Home teams should stream. Any requests to cut stream in cases of lag must be submitted to a committee member.

Respect:

If an issue comes up with your opponent please do not discuss publically in chat. Pause the game and DM your opponent.
What you see on your screen may not match what they see. You see a ball into the gap, they see the OF glitch.

Remember, it's a long season. You'll probably be on the wrong end of some tough breaks and take some losses. It'll happen to everyone. Friendly trash talking is fine, but excessive whining is not. It's a long season.
