I've been playing parallel lives for the past couple of months - as a 6'2" starting pitcher with a fastball, screwball, and splitter in both Road To The Show and MLB 2K12. It's been fascinating, entertaining, and frustrating all at the same time. As time goes on, I'll start posting some more in-depth statistics. For now, it's mostly about the experience.
It's May 2013 for me in both games right now, and I'm at the AAA level in both as well.
Just today I was able to meet the major league call-up requirements from a physical attribute standpoint in MLB 2K12, although I'm a dozen strikeouts or so short of the 40 K requirement. 2-3 games from now, I'll be right there - and I am fully expecting to be a member of the New York Mets major league squad by the end of June at the latest.
In Road To The Show, I'm scuffling a bit more, although I am at AAA; my guy gets beat up more than his MLB 2K12 counterpart. To be fair, most of the time I'm able to get all 4 of the advancement goals over the 3-week period, but not always. I started off in the Mets organization, but wound up traded to the Orioles and am currently throwing darts in Norfolk.
So far, I'm hard-pressed to pick which one I prefer. I enjoy the mechanics of 2K12 more to be sure - pitching is by far the best aspect of the game - but I love love love being able to use my PS3 and Vita for Road To The Show. I travel a lot for work and it's been a godsend to be able to share my career on both devices. Simply brilliant.
As I mentioned, I'll post back here with some updates and statistics. For now, I'm still chasing the major league dream.
