Week 1: My first game in charge of the UTSA offense was a great one for all 3 phases of the game in a 52-0 rout of the New Mexico Lobos. On offense, Soza went 23-26 with 269 yards and a touchdown. He also added 33 yards on the ground. Running backs Evans Okotcha and David Glasco rushed for 87 yards (3 TDs) and 98 yards (2 TDs) respectively. Backup Tucker Carter got in some playing time and rushed for another touchdown himself. On defense, we limited the Lobos offense to 6-25 for 60 yards, and 48 yards rushing. It was a complete win.

Week 2: The second game was against a tougher opponent in Oklahoma State in the Alamodome. The first half was close for the Roadrunners, trailing 14-13. Unfortunately, the Cowbowys scored 21 points in the 3rd quarter while we kept going 3-and-out, and that was the ball game. The other concern was the loss of Eric Soza, who is out for the season with a knee cartilage tear. We will have to continue the rest of the season with RS Junior Tucker Carter.

Week 3: Next up is a trip to Arizona. Unlike the Oklahoma State game, we were out of it by the end of the 1st quarter, as they managed to score touchdowns on their first three possessions to take a 20-7 lead after one. We were within striking distance early in the 3rd quarter when we made it a 27-21 game, but a couple more Wildcat scores (a TD and a FG) pushed the victory out of reach. Arizona improve to 3-0 while we drop to 1-2.

Week 4: Our first C-USA game of the season is against in-state rivals UTEP. Defense wasn't a priority in this game as the Roadrunners come out 52-42 victors. The scoreline was 31-21 after the 3rd quarter, before both clubs erupted for 21 points each in the final stanza. There were big scoring numbers all around for the Roadrunners offense, as Tucker Carter went 38-53 for a school record 512 yards and 5 touchdowns, while rushing for another 44 yards and a running TD. David Glasco ran for 72 yards, caught 9 passes for 96, and hit paydirt 3 times. Earon Holmes (9 rec, 133 yards, 1 TD), Kam Jones (7 rec, 93 yards, 1 TD), and Jeremiah Moehler (6 rec, 81 yards) all had banner games.

Next up: Week 5 against Houston.
