SAN ANTONIO - The 2013 UTSA Roadrunners have good talent overall for a team in Conference USA, and there's talent and depth on the offensive side of the ball, in the key positions of Quarterback, Running Back, and Wide Receiver.
The offense starts with 5th-year Senior Eric Soza (78 OVR), a dual threat quarterback who can make a case of being one of the best quarterbacks in Conference USA. His backup, Redshirt Junior Tucker Carter (75) fits in with the style of offense that the Roadrunners use. For the Roadrunners sake, hopefully they don't need to use their third-string quarterback, redshirt Freshman Zach Conque (66), or else the losses will pile up.
At running back, veterans David Glasco (RS Junior), Evans Okotcha (RS Senior), and Brandon Armstrong (RS Junior) lead the running game, and will provide good depth which is always very important in college football.
Wide Receivers Kam Jones (75), Earon Holmes (73), and Kenny Harrison (71) will be the starters, while Tight End Jeremiah Moehler (72) provides a big receiving target for the quarterback.
The offensive line is anchored by Junior LT Josh Walker (71), RS Junior LG Scott Inskeep (79), RS Junior C Nate Leonard (75), RS Junior RG Cody Harris (70), and Sophomore RT Zach Hester (67). There's not much depth after their starters though.
However, there are several main questions that have to be answered:
- Can the offensive line keep their quarterback upright?
- How will the new unknown commodity, Offensive Coordinator Ricky Nakano, mesh with the offense?
- Can the defense stop anyone?
