UTSA nab 4 recruits after a win against Marshall
SAN ANTONIO - The good news continues for the UTSA Roadrunners as 4 more recruits sign on the dotted line and have committed to the team for the 2014 season:
Joel Cooper (C) - 68 OVR
Cody Richardson (OT) - 67
James Hill (OT) - 66
Chad Green (OG) - 64
In a press release, UTSA announced that "we're excited to have 4 young men join our football program for the next 4 seasons. These youngsters are talented and want to make the UTSA Roadrunners a winner. All 4 of these players are offensive linemen, and it's essential in the current era of college football that we can protect the quarterback and bring depth to the offensive-line. We have accomplished both these goals and we can't wait for these 4 players to enroll before the 2014 season."

Roadrunners use big First Quarter to defeat Marshall 27-17
OCT 5, 2013
HUNTINGTON, WV - The UTSA Roadrunners continue with their high-scoring attack to edge the Marshall Thundering Herd to win their second consecutive game in Conference-USA competition.
Turnovers were a big theme for both teams as both starting quarterbacks, UTSA's Tucker Carter, and Marshall's Rakeem Cato, had to endure 5 interceptions by the defensive units. Costly turnovers in both redzones prevented the score from being much higher, but credit to the defensive side of the ball for making the plays that the offense could not execute. However, UTSA were able to control the line of scrimmage unlike their opponents through RS Junior David Glasco, who had a 100+ yard on the ground this afternoon.
UTSA were relatively toothless after that huge 1st Quarter, but the defense made key stops, and the Roadrunners were able to utilize the best formation in football, the victory formation, to secure a win and move back to .500 at 3-3, while remaining perfect in Conference Play. Marshall fall to 2-3 in their Conference season and home opener.
Next Saturday, the Roadrunners come back to their friendly confines at the Alamodome against the Rice Owls (3-2, 1-1 C-USA).

UTSA Roadrunners Nab First Recruit Commitment of 2013
SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA Roadrunners have announced their first recruit commitment in 2013 for the 2014 season and beyond.
Marvin Jones, a 2-star Wide Receiver from Kilgore, Texas, announced that he has accepted the Roadrunners' scholarship offer and will join them on campus at the conclusion of his high school senior season.
Offensive Coordinator Ricky Nakano stated through a UTSA spokesperson that "we're very excited to acquire a playmaker of Jones' caliber and Coach Coker and myself cannot wait for Jones to set foot on campus. Jones is a high quality individual and football player and he matches our offensive philosophy."

Hardworking Roadrunners fall 56-46 to the Houston Cougars in Non-Conference Play
SAN ANTONIO - After a narrow victory against the UTEP Miners, UTSA head back home hoping to secure an upset victory against the Houston Cougars in the American Athletic Conference. In the end, there was more than enough offense to secure a victory, but as the old adage says, "Defense wins championships", something the Roadrunners haven't done much lately.
On most Saturdays, if your starting quarterback throws over 500 yards with 5 touchdowns, like what Tucker Carter, replacing the injured Eric Soza, you would expect a victory. Unfortunately for the Roadrunners, Houston signal caller Billy Cosh threw over 500 yards and 4 touchdowns (as well as running for two scores).
Houston opened up a 14-7 lead after the first quarter thanks to effective ball movement across the field, leading to easy runs by Cosh and running back Kenneth Farrow. Their defense took over the second quarter as two mistakes by Carter via interception and fumble inside the UTSA 35 yard line led to easy scores by the Cougars in the short field. Towards the end of the first half, the Roadrunners were marching down the field, and were within the 4 yard line with 20 seconds to go, but horrible time management led to a last second timeout and field goal by placekicker Sean Ianno.
The third quarter started with more Houston dominance over the Roadrunners as 2 Cosh touchdown passes opened up the lead to 42-13. Carter and company however had a strong showing in their last two drives, and two Carter-to-Harrison connections shrunk the lead slightly to 42-26 (UTSA missed a 2-point conversion).
The final quarter was an entertaining affair for both offenses, at the expense of both Defensive Coordinators. Houston and UTSA traded scores to open up the 4th quarter, and a quick drive by the UTSA offense ended with a David Glasco 1 yard run to trim the deficit to 10 with a chance to recover an onside kick. Unfortunately, the Roadrunners failed to recover, and like the other drives by Houston, it ended with 7 points. Tucker Carter and Kenny Harrison padded some stats and broke team records in the process with another TD connection with 1:45 to go, but UTSA couldn't recover their 2nd onside kick of the afternoon, and the Cougars milked the rest of the clock for a 10-point victory.
Despite the loss, fans of the UTSA Roadrunners are very fascinated by their new Offensive Coordinator, and although it's still early in the season, the UTSA offense isn't to blame for the mounting losses by the team. And as usual, Coach Nakano managed to sneak out of the dressing room before local reporters could have a chat with him. Needless to say however, Head Coach Larry Coker has unearthed an interesting coaching prospect into the UTSA ranks. It will be interesting if Coker and Nakano can continue to score points, but more importantly, if the defensive side of the ball can stop their opponents from scoring and give the team a chance to win.

PS: Yes, I know I got the team headers mixed up, I'll make sure that doesn't happen for the next home game...
Since I already played 4 weeks, I will go ahead and summarize it quickly from what I remember. From Week 5 onwards, I will be more in-depth with the reporting.
Week 1: My first game in charge of the UTSA offense was a great one for all 3 phases of the game in a 52-0 rout of the New Mexico Lobos. On offense, Soza went 23-26 with 269 yards and a touchdown. He also added 33 yards on the ground. Running backs Evans Okotcha and David Glasco rushed for 87 yards (3 TDs) and 98 yards (2 TDs) respectively. Backup Tucker Carter got in some playing time and rushed for another touchdown himself. On defense, we limited the Lobos offense to 6-25 for 60 yards, and 48 yards rushing. It was a complete win.
Week 2: The second game was against a tougher opponent in Oklahoma State in the Alamodome. The first half was close for the Roadrunners, trailing 14-13. Unfortunately, the Cowbowys scored 21 points in the 3rd quarter while we kept going 3-and-out, and that was the ball game. The other concern was the loss of Eric Soza, who is out for the season with a knee cartilage tear. We will have to continue the rest of the season with RS Junior Tucker Carter.
Week 3: Next up is a trip to Arizona. Unlike the Oklahoma State game, we were out of it by the end of the 1st quarter, as they managed to score touchdowns on their first three possessions to take a 20-7 lead after one. We were within striking distance early in the 3rd quarter when we made it a 27-21 game, but a couple more Wildcat scores (a TD and a FG) pushed the victory out of reach. Arizona improve to 3-0 while we drop to 1-2.
Week 4: Our first C-USA game of the season is against in-state rivals UTEP. Defense wasn't a priority in this game as the Roadrunners come out 52-42 victors. The scoreline was 31-21 after the 3rd quarter, before both clubs erupted for 21 points each in the final stanza. There were big scoring numbers all around for the Roadrunners offense, as Tucker Carter went 38-53 for a school record 512 yards and 5 touchdowns, while rushing for another 44 yards and a running TD. David Glasco ran for 72 yards, caught 9 passes for 96, and hit paydirt 3 times. Earon Holmes (9 rec, 133 yards, 1 TD), Kam Jones (7 rec, 93 yards, 1 TD), and Jeremiah Moehler (6 rec, 81 yards) all had banner games.
Next up: Week 5 against Houston.

SAN ANTONIO - The 2013 UTSA Roadrunners have good talent overall for a team in Conference USA, and there's talent and depth on the offensive side of the ball, in the key positions of Quarterback, Running Back, and Wide Receiver.
The offense starts with 5th-year Senior Eric Soza (78 OVR), a dual threat quarterback who can make a case of being one of the best quarterbacks in Conference USA. His backup, Redshirt Junior Tucker Carter (75) fits in with the style of offense that the Roadrunners use. For the Roadrunners sake, hopefully they don't need to use their third-string quarterback, redshirt Freshman Zach Conque (66), or else the losses will pile up.
At running back, veterans David Glasco (RS Junior), Evans Okotcha (RS Senior), and Brandon Armstrong (RS Junior) lead the running game, and will provide good depth which is always very important in college football.
Wide Receivers Kam Jones (75), Earon Holmes (73), and Kenny Harrison (71) will be the starters, while Tight End Jeremiah Moehler (72) provides a big receiving target for the quarterback.
The offensive line is anchored by Junior LT Josh Walker (71), RS Junior LG Scott Inskeep (79), RS Junior C Nate Leonard (75), RS Junior RG Cody Harris (70), and Sophomore RT Zach Hester (67). There's not much depth after their starters though.
However, there are several main questions that have to be answered:
- Can the offensive line keep their quarterback upright?
- How will the new unknown commodity, Offensive Coordinator Ricky Nakano, mesh with the offense?
- Can the defense stop anyone?

International Man of Mystery takes over the UTSA Roadrunners as their new Offensive-Coordinator
July 1, 2013
SAN ANTONIO - Curiosity surrounds the fans at the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners as an individual unknown to the entire college football community is now the new Offensive-Coordinator under Head Coach Larry Coker.
"This young man is an interesting individual," said Coker, "he does have football knowledge and experience. A bright kid and he loves offense. He will be an asset to the coaching staff and players."
According to various sources, this man is indeed an expert on football...or as Americans call it, soccer. As news spread of the background of the coach, fans and boosters alike were up on arms, calling the hiring process a sham and a sign of giving up on UTSA football only in its 3rd season of existence.
The unknown coach, who is from Canada, is called 'Ricky Nakano' in the official press release by the Roadrunners, will make his first appearance as Offensive Coordinator in the season opener against New Mexico. It remains to be seen whether Coach Nakano can help the Roadrunners to success.

- Can only recruit players in home state 1 star more than current prestige. All else, recruits must match the level of prestige at my current school
- I can't over-recruit.
Posting Style:
- I actually have no idea. It's going to simplistic first and we'll go from there. I'll try to give as much detail as possible. It won't be a season update. It will be game by game, some recruiting news, standings (maybe in mid-season) and what not.
- I have already started the season (4 games in) so I'll just give a boxscore and summary from what I remember from the games
Playbook:
- I currently use Michigan's 'multiple' offense. It's an offense that fits my play-style so I want to keep using it.
- Defensive playbook I like the 4-3. But it really depends on personnel whenever I'm a HC, so I'll worry about that when it comes
