20/21 Season Game 61 Colorado Avalanche @ Chicago Blackhawks
The Avs and Blackhawks faced off at the United Center for the first of back to back situation on the road for Colorado. The Avs started well but Malcolm Subban was locked in from the initial puck drop. After weathering an early storm from the Avs, the Hawks got on the board midway through the opeing period on a goal from Dylan Strome. The Avs got an opportunity on the powerplay but couldn't convert, and shortly after the penalty expired they found themselves down by two as Kirby Dach won a battle in the corner and backhanded the puck under the inconsistent Grubauer. The Avs would have liked to put on the pressure to get back in the game in the second period, but they took three penalties and couldn't find a rhythm. Still trailing by 2 goals to start the third, the Avs threw everything they could at Subban and the Hawks, and finally got one past the Chicago netminder when Galchenyuk took a nice stretch pass from Makar and found Kadri in front for his 19th of the season. The Avs continued to seartch for the tying goal but were deflated when Jonathan Toews put a loose puck past an out of position Grubauer to ice a 3-1 Hawks win. The Avs get right back to action tomorrow night in Nashville.
