20/21 Season Game 55 Colorado Avalanche @ Boston Bruins
The Avs traveled to Boston to conclude their three game road trip against the Bruins. This game was a heavy weight fight between two of the league's top teams and it went the distance. Boston was all over the Avs early and midway through the opening frame Patrice Bergeron beat Francouz to put Boston out in front. Just four minutes later Colorado tied the game with the extra attacker out on a delayed penalty call after a nice stretch pass from Makar found a streaking Galchenyuk who then centered for Compher to bury past Halak. Early on in the middle frame the Avs took the lead through Nazem Kadri who has been heating up the past week or so. The Avs held the lead for most of the second but Anders Bjork tied the game for Boston late in the period. The game remained deadlocked through the third, in large part due to Francouz's stellar play in net. OT was pretty uneventful considering the open ice available in the 3 on 3 situation and the game headed to a shootout. MacKinnon and Landeskog scored for Colorado in the shootout but Francouz was unable to keep out attempts from Marchand, Bergeron and Krejci, the latter sending the Bruins to their fourth straight win. The Avs return home Friday night to take on Toronto.
