20/21 Season Game 50 Minnesota Wild @ Colorado Avalanche
The Avs faced off against long time rival Minnesota in Denver in the last game before the All Star break. The Wild have been struggling this season but records usually go out the window when these two teams play. The Wild brought their A game and started the better of the two teams by putting more shots on net. It was the Avs that struck first though, a goal by rookie Martin Kaut after a nice defensive play in the neutral zone. Kaut has had a strong season in his first full year in the NHL. Entering the 2nd up by one, the Avs picked up the pace and doubled their lead on a powerplay goal by Galchenyuk, who has been hot the past few games. The Avs took a peanlty late in the second to give Minnesota a powerplay that ran over into the final period. The third is where it all went wrong for Colorado. Jordan Greenway scored on the powerplay 32 seconds into the period, and the Wild kept pushing from there. Minnesota would score three more times unanswered, another from Greenway, a powerplay goal by Johansson with just over a minute to play, and an empty netter to send the Avs into the All Star break with a loss.
