20/21 Season Game 49 Nashville Predators @ Colorado Avalanche
The Avs welcomed a red hot Nashville team to Denver. The Preds came in having won their previous 5 games, and both games against Colorado so far this season. Tonight would be a different story as the Avs totally dominated Nashville. Colorado opened the scoring midway through the first on Galchenyuk's 15th of the season. With less than 5 to play in the opening stanza, the second line struck again. This time it was Andre Burakovsky beating Saros short side after a nice stretch pass. The second line was an absolute force tonight, combining for 9 points in the game. The second period was more of the same, the Avs getting out to a 3-0 lead on Burakovsky's second of the night. It only got worse for Nashville as Colorado scored two more times via Bellemare and Kaut to skate to a 5-0 lead. Nashville would get one back on a Rem Pitlick snipe to cut the lead to 5-1. Colorado continued to dominate in the 3rd, picking up a 6th from Valeri Nichushkin. Immediately after the Russian's 5th of the season, rookie Martin Kaut would head to the box on the only penalty call of the night, and Nashville would capitalize on the ensuing faceoff to cut the defecit to 4. Colorado was able to cruise to the end of the game however, finally getting the better of Nashville this season and assert their dominance at the top of the Central Division.
