20/21 Season Game 44 Colorado Avalanche @ Calgary Flames
Colorado took the ice for the second consecutive night, this time in Alberta against the Flames. The Flames are at the bottom of the Western conference standings but they played a hard fought game tonight. The opening period was evenly played between both teams. Midway through the period, Calgary struck first on a one timer from Elias Lindholm. The Avs tied it up with less than 5 to go with a goal from J.T. Compher. It was a nice passing play by an Avs fourth line that has played really well the past couple of games. The Avs completely dominated the middle frame, outshooting the Flames 14-3 but Markstrom was able to keep the game tied heading into the third. The final period was played at a more back and forth pace like the first period, but just over 6 minutes in the Avs broke the deadlock with another goal by the 4th line, this time J.T. Compher. The Flames had a late powerplay opportunity to tie the game but Francouz held them at bay, sending the Avs to another win. The Avs continue their road trip Tuesday night in Montreal.
