20/21 Season Game 37 Colorado Avalanche @ Arizona Coyotes
The Avs traveled down do the desert to take on the Coyotes in the second night of a back. The Avs knew they would face a strong defensive system and a strong netminder no matter who Arizona went with in net. The Avs jumped out to an early lead thanks to yet another goal by Burakovsky. He was able to one time a Kadri pass from a bad angle to beat Raanta off the blocker for what would end up being Colorado's only goal of the night. Arizona would answer back a few minutes later with John Hayden's 4th goal of the season when their 4th line outworked the Avs in front of the net. The middle frame saw the Avs lose their discipline a little bit, taking 3 penalties in the period. The Coyotes took advatnage of one of them, a Phil Kessel snipe from the slot. The Coyotes would hunker down in the 3rd and seal the win with a Derek Stepan empty netter. The Avs hit the ice in Vegas after a 4 night Christmas break.
