20/21 Season Game 33 Dallas Stars @ Colorado Avalanche
The Avs take to the ice for the second of a back to back against Central Division opposition, this time against Dallas. The last time these teams met the Avs won 6-5 in an absolute thriller. The first period featured back and forth action, with both teams getting powerplay opportunities. It was the Stars who were able to take advantage with Radek Faksa beating backup goalie Francouz for a 1-0 Dallas lead. Dallas seemed to be content with sitting on a narrow lead, allowing the Avs to put a high volume of shots on the towering Ben Bishop. He stood strong most of the night, but the Avs finally found the tying goal in the final minute of the 2nd period on a MacKinnon breakaway. The Avs broke it open in the first half of the third, taking a lead on MacKinnon's second of the night. They doubled their lead just 5 minutes later when Mikko Rantanen beat Bishop short side off the rebound of a Cale Makar shot. Dallas would add a late goal from Esa Lindell with the extra attacker out, but the Avs held on to win 3-2 on the back of MacKinnon's second consecutive 3 point game.
