20/21 Season Game 25 Pittsburgh Penguins @ Colorado Avalanche
Colorado welcomed Sidney Crosby and the struggling Penguins to Denver. The first period featured a lot of neutral zone play and few chances for either team. The Avs were able to grab a one goal lead on Nathan Mackinnon's 10th goal of the season, the 200th of his career. The Penguins notched up the pressure and enjoyed the majority of the scoring opportunities in the middle frame. The increased zone time culminated with Brandon Tanev tying the game at one apiece early into the middle frame. The Penguins continued to rack up the shots, but Avalanche backup Pavel Francouz was up to the task. The Avs restored their advantage later in the period on a Mikko Rantanen goal in front on a nice feed from Landeskog in the corner. The 3rd period began with the Avs leading 2-1 and from there it was all Colorado. The Avalanche exploded for 4 goals in the final frame and chased DeSmith. Colorado returns to the ice in two nights time to face off against St. Louis for the first time this season.
