20/21 Season Game 22 Colorado Avalanche @ Arizona Coyotes
The Avs headed down to the desert for the final game of their three game road trip against Pacific Division opposition. Both teams came into the game playing well, winning seven of their last ten. The Coyotes would get on the board first with Conor Garland's 9th goal of the season. The Avs would tie it up less than 2 minutes later on rookie Martin Kaut's 1st of the season after some hard forechecking play by Nichushkin. The deadlock would last only 28 seconds though, with veteran Alex Goligoski restoring Arizona's 1 goal advantage. From the start of the second period on, the Avalanche owned the puck. They bombarded Antti Raanta throughout the rest of the game. Just over 3 minutes into the middle frame the Avs tied the game again on an Andre Burakovsky deflection of Michael Stone's point shot. Despite a heavy shot advantage in favor of Colorado the game was still tied after two. The Avs continued to throw everything at Raanta, and finally took the lead in the game with Bellemare's 5th goal of the season coming off a faceoff play in the offensive zone. The Avs were able to see out the narrow victory, extending their winning streak to six. The Avs return home tomorrow night to face division rival Dallas.
