20/21 Season Game 21 Colorado Avalanche @ Los Angeles Kings
The Avs headed to Hollywood for a Saturday showdown against the LA Kings. They started fast once again, scoring twice in the opening 3:32 of the 1st period. Andre Burakovsky broke the ice on the powerplay, ending a long streak of powerplay futility. Less than a minute later Rantanen beat Quick with a wrist shot through net front traffic. It would only get worse for the Kings when MacKinnon added a 3rd goal for Colorado, an incredible batted goal on the powerplay. The Kings would fight back, getting one back late in the 1st on a Jeff Carter breakaway. The game slowed down in the middle frame, however Colorado regained their three goal lead on Rantanen's 2nd of the night, his 10th of the season. The final frame continued at the slow pace established in the 2nd. The Kings grabbed a late goal from Dustin Brown. LA applied some late game pressure with Quick pulled for an extra attacker, but Colorado was able to see out the 4-2 win, their 5th straight.
