20/21 Season Game 17 Colorado Avalanche @ Edmonton Oilers
Colorado headed to Edmonton in the midst of a 3 game skid, looking to turn their fortunes around. They started the night quickly by scoring just over 3 minutes in on the first shot of the game. Bellemare charged through the neutral zone on a two man rush with Galchenyuk who finished the play past Koskinen. Less than a minute later the Oilers tied it up by capitalizing on another Colorado penalty early in the game, with Chiasson burying the powerplay goal. The Avs owned the puck all night, as evident in the shot totals. Most of their puck possession was generated by a tenacious forecheck, which led to their second goal. Landeskog won't get an assist on the play but he knocked the puck loose for Brandon Saad after a nice open ice hit on Chiasson. Saad made no mistake from the low slot, giving the Avs a 2-1 lead. Colorado continued to dominate puck possession into the 2nd. Late in the period the Avs found themselves on another odd man rush, this time MacKinnon doing the damage. The 3rd period was much the same, and Landeskog added a 4th goal for Colorado after nice forechecking from MacKinnon.
