20/21 Season Game 16 Colorado Avalanche @ Winnipeg Jets
Having lost 2 straight, the Avs traveled North to Winnipeg for another division game against the Jets. Colorado found themselves down less than two minutes into the game when Nikolaj Ehlers sniped a powerplay goal after a Landeskog penalty. Just over 2 minutes later the Jets doubled their lead thanks to former Av Paul Stastny. Down by 2 less than 4 minutes into the game, Colorado knew they had a mountain to climb trying to beat Hellebuyck when his team gave him an early lead. The Avs threw everything at the net and finally capitalized late in the 1st on a Mikko Rantanen goal from his own rebound. The Avs kept chasing the game in the 2nd and were able to tie it late in the fram on another Rantanen goal. Starting the 3rd period tied, the game tightened up along with the refs. Winnipeg was able to take advantage of the extra ice in a 4 on 4 situation when Blake Wheeler beat Grubauer on a breakaway. Hellebuyck would shut the door the rest of the way, handing the Avs their third straight loss.
