20/21 Season Game 15 Nashville Predators @ Colorado Avalanche
The Avs returned home to face division foe Nashville in a matchup of the top two teams in the Central division. In a tight checking game that had a playoff feel to it, it was the defensive play and goaltenders that owned the night. The first two periods ended scoreless, with neither team able to find an edge in scoring chances. The Avs finally got on the board early in the third, with Alex Galchenyuk scoring the type of greasy goal it takes in games like this. Colorado tried to play conservative for the rest of the final frame, trying to close out the game by getting pucks deep and forechecking. Just when it seemed the Avs would escape with a narrow 1-0 victory, Ryan Ellis followed his shot to the net and scored on the rebound with just 13 seconds remaining to play. The overtime period was all Avalanche, as they outshot Nashville 8-2 but couldn't get the winning goal. The game was decided in a shootout, Calle Jarnkrok being the only player to beat the goalie for either team.
