20/21 Season Game 11 Ottawa Senators @ Colorado Avalanche
Coming off a thrilling overtime win against Tampa Bay, the Avs took on the Ottawa Senators in the first of two games on back to back nights. The first period got off to a slow start due to Ottawa's suffocating play in the neutral zone. The Senators controlled the offensive tempo of the game in the opening frame, but the Avs capitalized on one of their rare opportunities to grab a 1-0 lead. Girard quickly moved the puck out of the defensive zone on a play that sprung Compher and Galchenyuk on an odd man rush, with Galchenyuk finishing the play. Colorado upped the tempo in the 2nd period, turning the shot total in their favor, but it was Ottawa who even the scored on a Michael Grabner snipe exactly halfway through the game. With the score deadlocked entering the 3rd, the Avs continued to push the pace offensively, and it paid off early when Burakovsky finished his own rebound on what would eventually be the game winning goal. Captain Gabriel Landeskog added a 3rd goal into the empty net to seal the win.
