MLB 08 Makes me Look Back at My Video Game History
Posted on November 11, 2008 at 11:18 AM.
I'm one of those guys who actually enjoys editing rosters and players more than playing the games. Well I love playing the games too, but doing the editing for sports games is my real passion. I update "NBA 2K8" daily for both my 76ers season and in my game's main rosters. Wristbands, Sneakers, Jersey Numbers, attributes, and even tendencies, whatever is needed. The same goes for MLB The Show, I edit Batting Stances, Pitching Styles, along with all the Jersey Numbers and gear. I'm guessing many people do this to their games, but I pride myself in keeping them updated and extremely accurate.

I've been working on my 2008 roster updates for "MLB 07: The Show" for the last week, just so I can play Spring Training games with all the team's real March rosters. Sounds dumb right? I know that I'm wasting my time since there's only 5 days remaining until MLB 08' arrives on store shelves, but I just can't help myself.

I haven't ever played my PS3 online even though I have an account (It's WPSN), and it sounds like a whole lot of fun. I'm not even sure if you can upload your edited rosters to other users online.

I've been an avid Sports Gamer and editor since 1987. You see, it all started with the Commodore 64 and "World Series Baseball". I created the 1987 St. Louis Cardinals roster because of my childhood hero and favorite baseball player Vince Coleman. I actually used a real baseball scorebook to keep track of all of my players stats and made the league leaders and team leader printouts for my own use (I printed them out onto the old green and white stripped printer paper with the holes on the sides for the printer wheels). My hobby then branched out to the NFL and "Superbowl Sunday", another Commodore 64 classic. Both of those games had limited choices for teams and stats. I can remember the first day that I played a season with the San Diego Chargers on "TecmoBowl" and how I jumped around the room excitedly screaming that it kept stats for your season and the rest of the league!

So as you can see I'm your typical sports dork who losses himself in the world of video gaming daily.
