Global Icons Ribery, De Rossi, Kuranyi, Cech and Others Join Rooney and Ronaldinho on EA Sports FIFA Soccer 09 Pack Covers Around the World
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – September 26, 2008 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today unveiled its world-wide lineup of cover athletes for EA SPORTS™ FIFA Soccer 09. Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and AC Milan superstar Ronaldinho will be the face of FIFA Soccer 09 worldwide on each available platform— the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360®™ video game and entertainment system, Wii™ home video game system, PC, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo DS™, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and mobile.
Rooney and Ronaldinho will also appear as customized Mii™ characters exclusively for the Wii™ in FIFA Soccer 09 All-Play. EA SPORTS has created unique versions of each athlete and other cover stars, which will all be playable in-game.
FIFA Soccer 09 marks the fourth year (2006-09) the 22-year-old Rooney has been featured on the cover of the FIFA franchise while the 28-year-old Ronaldinho appears on the FIFA cover for the fifth time (2004/06/07/08/09).
“It is a great honor for me to be part of the FIFA franchise again. Having my own Mii character in the game is just fantastic. Playing with it on the pitch and shooting outrageous goals by simply shaking the controller is football on a new level”, said Ronaldinho.
The two soccer greats will be joined by numerous stars from all over the world on regional packaging, including Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema in France, Daniele De Rossi in Italy, Kevin Kuranyi in Germany, Petr Cech in the Czech Republic and Maurice Edu and Guillermo Ochoa in North America.
