Madden Evolution
Posted on September 1, 2011 at 01:08 PM.
Madden has come a long way over the years. I first became acquainted with Madden in 1994 at my cousins house. I had seen it, but never played it until that day. From that day on I had every Madden until 06, on PS2. I became quite frustrated with Madden at the time at the lack of innovation on the previous generation consoles.

Now fast-forward to now. Madden 12, I have seen peoples complaints about Madden 12. Commentary being one of many reasons, the commentary is bad, but the other areas are strong. Football to me is a game that displays art. The grass stains, battle marks on helmets, field deteriorating, it all portrays the ensuing battle. While for some this might not be a big deal, but in the NFL all these things show the true battle.

Madden 09 was okay, but to me it looked to much like PS2 days. Madden 10 introduced gang tackling and that was a pretty good game of Madden. But here is where it got dicey again for me and Madden. Madden 11 came out after NCAA 11 had an overhaul in presentation and graphics. Madden 11 had pretty audio but the visuals were just horrible. No real up close shots, no grass stains or helmet scratches it was a mess and real boring.

Madden 12 came around and I was on the fence until I saw some E3 videos and Madden was back to where is was in Madden 08, the reason I say 08 is because that was the first year with my 360. Madden 12 has better player movement and camara angles. Madden 12 is not as bad as some people say it is. If you bad Maddens look at 09 and 11 they were truely bad. Madden is at a level that I have dreamed about the last few years.

In final one argument people give me all the time is that it is the console's fault for not having some of the old features back. I cannot agree with that because when I look back at my PS2 it did some great things, with its limited capability. It had a memory expansion bay that was never used to its potential. I had it the second year after it was released. Then we started hearing about PS3 and 360, both of these machines are very powerful and stronger than the previous consoles. I do honestly believe that if the full potential of these consoles can be looked at we can have a Madden that closely resembles MLB The Show or NBA 2k 11. With Madden 12 the foundation is laid, it just depends on are they going to scrap what they have done or see if can keep features just by reworking some code that will allow for more features to be put in without losing anything (The point after for one example)

Just my thoughts on how Madden a game that has a lot of history has the potential to be a game that everyone wants in their console rather than sitting back complaining about a lack there of.
