Yesterday a dream came true. An anonymous donor, (who knew SDSU had them), went to President Stephen Weber, and put up the money to buy out Chuck Long from coaching our sad football team. WoooooHooooo!

Where do we go from here? Speculation rests on Terry Bowden, Dirk Kuetter and others. here is my rankings list.

1) Terry Bowden:

Positives: Would immediately excite the fan base. Went 20-1-1 in his first two years at Auburn. Would bring national media attention.

Negatives: Could bolt to a BCS program after 1-2 years.

2) Dirk Keutter:

Positives: Laid the foundation for Boise State's prominence.

Negatives: Never won Pac 10 road games while coaching ASU.

3) Dennis Green:

Positives: Would bring fire to Aztec Pride. Currently teaches sports management class at SDSU. Would immediately help San Diego HS recruiting. Did well at Stanford.

Negative: He is who we think he is. (sorry, couldn't resist)

4) Dennis Franchione:

Positives: Laid ground work for success at TCU. Has won wherever he has coached.

Negatives: Veer offesne does not fit redshirt freshman Ryan Lindley...who can wing it in the Aztec tradition.

5) Bobby Hauck:

Positives: Some say, best coach in non Division 1 program. (It worked for Ohio State).

Negatives: May rub San Diego people the wrong way. Not a big schmoozer from reports.

6) Bill Cubit:

Positives: Led Western Michigan to International Bowl in 2007. (heck, right now we would take the Doggie Bowl after 10 years of futility) Runs a high powered passing attack that fits the Aztec tradition. Took a 1-10 team in 2004 and went 7-4 the next year.

Negatives: None known at this time.

So, there it is. What would you do? Do you have any candidates not listed? This is THE most important hire in Aztec history. If it fails, we may lose Aztec football forever. This hire HAS to bring the fans.....and winning .....back!
