*Hoping to serve as America's new hero further, Jack Swagger defeated Canadian legend Bret Hart.
*NWA Heavyweight Champion Prince Devitt retained the title over Curtis Axel, who he had fought over the European belt the past few months.
*Rowan and Harper picked up another W - versus the Prime Time Players - en route to a possible championship rematch with the Usos at Bash at the Beach.
*Eddie Edwards kept the Cruiserweight championship away from Rey Mysterio and Xavier Woods in an exciting triple threat match.
*The gargantuan Diesel, of WWF fame, made a one-off appearance to fight Cesaro. The new Heyman Guy astonished with his in-ring skill but Diesel very much had more in the tank. Shawn Michaels' former bodyguard pulled off a Jacknife, a chokeslam, and a powerslam along the way, but Heyman's interference proved to be a distraction. The one-time United States champion notched German/gutwrench suplexes, a Swiss Death, and a Neutralizer on the near 7-footer. No legend has matched him as of late.
*C.M. Punk has been infallible since winning the World Heavyweight Championship from rival John Cena at Wrestlemania 30. Oddly enough, Cena has not been seen on Smackdown since. It had that much of an impact on the blue brand and the WWE in general. Punk has been turning away non-title contenders left and right in the past month. When Drew McIntyre was put against him in the main-event, something felt different. McIntyre, mired in the mid-card realm, attacked with a purpose. More weapons were used than usual in a match where the title was not up for grabs.
The World champion was flatlined and had his body spun around into a facebuster, both on steel steps. He was busted open with a chair shot and Drew smashed his abdomen with a sledgehammer. It finished, mercifully, with a Future Shock DDT in to the mat. It became very apparent soon after what the deal was.
*Out came the Savior of the Masses, looking to pick up the scraps. The cash-in was on after the mess that ensued in the ring. McIntyre watched from a distance, surely thinking he's next up, whoever is champion by the end of this. Punk tried to fight against fate but the advantage was to Sandow from the beginning. He whittled the Best in the World down and hit his full nelson slam for the win. Thus, the Duke of Decency has stolen the World Heavyweight Championship from C.M. Punk, ending his two-month reign.
Ric Flair, legendary for his runs with the NWA and WCW World Championship, congratulated the man who beat him fair-and-square in a battle of intellect at Wrestlemania. Hunter Hearst Helmsley joined the party, tossing Punk's bruised body out of the ring. The Connecticut Blue Blood seems to be his associate or protege, and Flair has sung his praises as well.
We'll find out what this means next Friday. The Era of Enlightenment has begun.
