The young part of my stint in SSW was successful. Just a handful of matches in and I was already wearing the Lightweight Title around my waist. Things were looking bright and I wanted to insure my first reign was a lengthy one.

I had been on my own to this point - where Cracker (Dan Severn) approached me and decided he would take me under his wing. It was the first time in the wrestling business that I had been someone's protege. He would protect me at ringside, and as long as I kept the title, I was cool with him being by my side and being under his tutelage.

Of course through reading the wrestling magazine I could learn details about some other companies and what's happened elsewhere. That is quite the strange tag team, I have to say.

(In case you're wondering, "Butkus Lang" is Brodus Clay, and "Essa"/"Junior Carrera" are Los Guerreros. You can probably tell which is which.)

I was defending my title well while under Cracker's guidance, despite some tough opposition. What superstar could stop this rising star and his veteran manager?
