June, Week 2
Main Event's card has been announced a little early. Here's what we're looking at on Tuesday:
WWE TV Title Match
Daniel Bryan (w/Kane) def. Primo (c) (w/Epico): Daniel Bryan is your new TV Title holder. He was quoted as saying he'll "use this to propel [me] back up the ranks,". It would seem he's agreed to defend it against former tag partner Kane soon.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Best in the World That Ever Lived (c) def. World's Greatest Tag Team: Benjamin and Haas have cashed in their rematch clause after losing the titles last week. The second match was just as good as the first, with the champs successfully defending the belts after winning them recently. I for one would love to see a third battle to end the trilogy, but it looks like after two straight losses the former champions will have to work their way back up the ladder.
Wade Barrett def. Jack Swagger w/ Antonio Cesaro as Guest Referee: "The Prince" Wade Barrett requested a friendly rematch against Jack Swagger after losing to him on Smackdown. With Swagger's consent, our RAW/SD GM made the match and added Antonio Cesaro as the ref so he could scout potential competition for the U.S. Title - mainly the #1 contender Swagger. The Swiss Sensation called this fight down the middle, and it was quite entertaining. Both men speared the other through a barricade and avoided countouts, then in the end Barrett hit a sitout spinebuster and pinned the #1 contender. Perhaps the former Intercontinental Champion has now jumped ahead Swagger to face Cesaro.
Fatal Four-Way, Tag Turmoil Series
Drew McIntyre (Evolution) def. Cody Rhodes (Rhodes Scholars), Christian (E&C), and Road Dogg (New Age Outlaws): Evolution picks a second win in a row, much like Hennig and Dallas, so the standings now show a 2-2 tie at the top. McIntyre grabbed the win after a sickening Future Shock that planted Christian through the commentary table.
Afterwards, both the Sinister Scotsman and Ted DiBiase Sr. threw the battered Road Dogg out of the ring and celebrated Evolution's victory. They're in control and Bobby Roode, Batista, or Ted Jr. are up next when the series resumes.
Tag Turmoil Standings
Hennig/Dallas - 2
Evolution - 2
Mucha Lucha - 1
New Age Outlaws - 1
others tied - 0
The Hardys def. El Generico (and Kevin Steen): Rivals and No Way Out opponents were to team up to add a twist to their feud, and they were pitted against the Hardy brothers, who had made a brief reunion. However, Steen no-showed, so it was essentially a handicap match. The Generic Luchador was up to the challenge but was no match for the Hardys who were still flowing well as a team even after years apart. Jeff landed a crossbody into the ring from the apron and made the pin.
Generico certainly has to have some anger inside him after the IC champion didn't show, but what will be the consequences of Steen doing so?
