The final Smackdown before Over the Limit! Let's go..
Samoa Joe def. Davey Richards, 2/3 Falls, WHC #1C Tourney (winner faces Antonio Cesaro): Both of these guys are fresh to Smackdown, and neither was in the mood for nice greetings. In fact, it was Davey Richards' WWE debut. It didn't start too well, as he was down 1-0 early on after a snap suplex by Samoa Joe. He pulled it around though, taking The Samoan Submission Machine down with a Shining Wizard that bloodied him. Joe would reverse his sudden hot streak and end the match out of nowhere with a vicious Muscle Buster. Joe is up against U.S. Champ Antonio Cesaro in the next round.
Kurt Angle def. Kane, 2/3 Falls, WHC #1C Tourney (winner faces Christian): The victor would advance to face Christian. A bit of fighting went on until Angle stole Kane's Chokeslam from Hell finisher, and picked up the first pin! An infuriated Kane delivered one back later on, through the announce table, to tie the score. Angle popped right back up and secured the winning fall after an Olympic Slam. And so, the former TNA star will challenge Christian next.
John Cena def. Dolph Ziggler, Steel Cage Match: Dolph and Cena agreed on yet another match, each for their own reasons. Cena is still out for revenge and Ziggler wants to put Cena out of action and out of the spotlight. At the same time, he wants respect and to be known as the man who took Cena out. A steel cage match seemed to be a nice choice for tonight. Both tried to make a swift escape up the steel structure multiple times, then bring the other down to the mat. In the end, Ziggler was downed and Cena was out of the cage.
The Colons def. E&C, Elimination, WWE Tag Title #1C Tourney Finals (winners face World's Greatest Tag Team for titles): The right to fight for the Tag Team titles at a later date was up for grabs in this Tornado Tag Elimination match. The finals of this tournament were won by the cousins Primo and Epico in an entertaining match, ending the re-united Edge and Christian's hopes of getting the gold. They'll confront tag champs Haas and Benjamin soon.
Sheamus def. The Rock and JBL, WHC #1C Tourney (winner faces winner of Cesaro vs Samoa Joe): This triple-threat was certainly deserving of its main-event spot. It was an all-out free-for-all that was wild and full of non-stop action. The three superstars duked it out until the Rock eliminated the self-proclaimed "Wrestling God" with a Rock Bottom. He and Sheamus scrapped until eventually a punch from the People's Champion was reversed into White Noise, which was enough to keep the Rock down for the three count. Sheamus earned a spot in the next round with a hard-fought victory tonight, and he's set to clash with either Antonio Cesaro or Samoa Joe, to the disdain of the Rock, who surprisingly had a change of heart. After his loss, The Rock slapped away the offer of a handshake by Sheamus.
The Brahma Bull is obviously frustrated over his lack of success since his return to Smackdown. Perhaps a change of scenery soon would do him some good.
All that's left before Over the Limit 2013 is Heat! Stay tuned.
