Another late surge by the Scarlet Knights earns them another win this year. The game was tight all the way till the 4th, where Rutgers offense decided to show up.
Gary Nova started the game horrific, missing wide open receivers time after time. Huggins as well had a poor start, which belonged to poor offensive line play. The Bearcats had their game plan set, however after getting together Nova was able to rally the troops, demonstrating why he is worthy of being an NFL draft pick. He is a game manager. Coleman was easily the player of the game as he dominated his corner all game, showing why he should be an NFL pick this upcoming April.
Defensively, Rutgers was sound except for on a few big plays. The main problem Key's few big runs, otherwise the Bearcats were stopped on the run. The Scarlet Knights pass defense continues to improve, even with star safety Waters out for the first half the team was able to step up and keep the arial attack minimal.
Next week Rutgers will travel to UCF to take on the (3-6) Knights in a Thursday night game. Rutgers is expected to beat what is yet again a weaker opponent, but crazier things have happened.

This was easily Rutgers best performance of the year. The Knights came in wanting to dominate their opponent and clearly did so. Gary Nova played fantastic, finding his star tight end Paul Carrezola for 4 touch downs. Carrezola outmatched his opponent, who had no chance at all against the physical tight end.
On defense Rutgers allowed a few big carries from Temple's star running back Kenneth Harper, however Temple decided to continue passing the ball, which easily costed them the game. Rutgers is clearly improving against the pass as teams are not able to beat them with the air raid anymore.
Next week Rutgers will be on a bye before taking on the Cincinatti Bearcats at home. This game is one of the most important for the Scarlet Knights as they have most recruits coming to visit.

An extremely impressive performance by Rutgers in this one. Gary Nova looked unstoppable, but as we know this could turn around at any moment. Savon Huggins turned in one of his best performances, which easily could have been turned into a 200 yard game, given a few more snaps. Brandon Coleman was deadly on the field as his draft stock continues to rise.
Defensively, Rutgers continues to shine against the run and played extremely well against the pass even against an air raid team like Houston. Jamil Merrell is continuing to rise on NFL draft boards as he tallies yet another sack.
Rutgers fans should not get too excited, as Houston is one of the weaker teams in the conference. However, Rutgers continues to move up in BCS rankings, as they officially rank 21st. The Knights will take on 6-2 Temple next week in New Jersey. Temple was the team knocked Louisville from top 25 with an impressive upset. With two recruits in next week, 3 star QB Cash Carter and 4 star TE Doug Kelly, who both have Rutgers and Temple as top 2 teams, Rutgers will need to dominate Temple for all 4 quarters.

Rutgers most likely will not see a game against a more even opponent after this one. All stats are similar as both quarterbacks struggled while both running backs were stout. Teddy Bridgewater's NFL draft stock continues to plummet after another weak performance, while Gary Nova continues his inconsistent ways that he struggled with a year ago.
After letting up to quick scores Rutgers thought it was going to be a blow out. However, the Merrell's gathered troops on the sidelines and rallied the defense, stoping any Louisville offense until the 4th quarter. Rutgers offense continued to struggle until a 30 yard run by Nova in the third quarter kickstarting the offense.
In the end this match up will create even more tension between the two before next time they meet. Rutgers falls just out of the top 25, however with a couple more wins we believe we will soon see them accomplish this goal. The season doesn't get any easier as Rutgers has a bunch of even quality conference opponents yet to face. Rutgers will first have a bye week before hosting Houston in what should be a good battle.

The Scarlet Knights put together an all around fantastic game. Nova stepped up his game, making the right throws every time he received the snap. Even without star running back Savon Huggins the team still was able to piece together a solid running attack behind sophomore redshirt Paul James. James looks like a solid player that will be able to carry the running game next season if Huggins were to leave for the NFL. Coleman had another solid game as he has yet to drop a pass still this season.
Defensively the Knights saw about 90 percent passes and 10 percent runs, resulting in a statistical weak game pass defensively. The team clearly improved however against the pass breaking up 50 percent of Gilbert's passes.
Next week the Knights will take on the 3-2 Louisville Cardinals who coming into the season were a top team falling out of the top 25 with losses to Kentucky and Temple. Teddy Bridgewater has been battling injuries this season, but will be ready to go Thursday night against Rutgers.

Rutgers played this one with heart, unfortunately this thriller ended in a loss. Savon Huggins will be out for a week after hurting his shoulder and missing the second half of this one. This loss however did not effect the outcome as James still played a decent game. The biggest mistakes once again were caused by a weak pass defense, as well as poor decisions on Nova's part. Rutgers will have a bye next week as they prepare for the SMU Mustangs.

Another solid week for Rutgers football as the team was able to dominate a weaker opponent yet again. The pass defense struggled at times, but improved from a horrible previous week. Nova struggled hitting open receivers in the first half, however he stayed calm and delivered managing a decent game. Savon Huggins is looking very good every week as he is beginning to live up to his 4 star prospect status. The team will host Arkansas next week as they look to take down their first legitimate opponent. Can Rutgers keep it rolling against an SEC team?

A weak game by Rutgers secondary, a lot of work needed there. As a FCS school Norfolk State put up quite a battle, however Rutgers finally decided to end things in the 4th putting up a whopping 35 points. If Rutgers can carry momentum from the 4th quarter then this team will be deadly. Offensively Rutgers main mistake was created in play calling, too many conservative calls caused Nova to make poor decisions. However, when playing aggressively in the 4th Nova started to shine. Rutgers will look to remain unbeaten as they face Eastern Michigan next week in another non conference game.

On Heisman using Chater's sliders 8 min quarters
A slow start to the running game for the Scarlet Knights, however it picked up rapidly going into the 3rd quarter giving Nova more opportunities. The only down fall of the game was Nova's poor decisions on the 2 picks. Fortunately one of the picks lead to a safety ( huge relief). Rutgers still has a lot to improve on offensively, and as well needs to improve tackling defensively. This was their first game using a spread offense similar to Oregon's, and clearly it panned out.
Next game, FCS East

Next game, FCS East
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will be entering the 2013 college football season with high hopes after making their way to an impressive 9-4 record in 2012. The Knights will have to overcome key loses such as running back Jawan Jamison, receivers Mark Harrison and Tim Wright, tight end D.C Jefferson, line backers Khaseem Greene and Steve Beauharnais, defensive backs Logan Ryan and Duron Harmon and many more. The question is can Rutgers football put together another solid year before heading off to Big Ten play?
This years offense will be running a spread look similar to Oregons. This move was made in hopes to fix a weak offense who arguably held the team back the previous season. The defense will be running a 4-3 base hoping to continue the success from the previous year.
This years captains will be quarter back Gary Nova, receiver Brandon Coleman, defensive end Jamil Merrell and linebacker Jamal Merrell. A few more notable players are offensive lineman Kaleb Johnson, running back Shavon Huggins, line backer Kevin Snyder and safety Lorenzo Waters. The team also decided to red shirt the following players,
- RB: Dontea Ayres- 71
- WR: Janarion Grant- 68
- WR: Andre Patton- 64
- RG: Dorian Miller- 78
- RE: Sebastian Joseph- 62
- ROLB: Myles Nash- 71
- ROLB: Nick Internicola- 68
- CB: TJ Taylor- 65
- FS: Bryant Gross-Amiento- 71
- FS: Anthony Cioffi- 70
