Alfy's Madden 11 Review
Posted on August 22, 2010 at 10:45 AM.
Well I've been playing the game for almost 2 weeks now and have a pretty good understanding of the game. Here's what I like and dislike about Madden 11.

Likes

- Gameplay- The gameplay in my opinion is what actually made this game fun to play. Not saying it's perfect but it's by far the best gameplay in Madden ever. I'm a guy who likes to have a balanced offensive attack with running and passing the ball and I could never do that before because in the previous Madden's it was impossible to run the ball. Very good running game now however. Defensively people complain but I actually think it's pretty good but I'm pretty good at defense anyways.

- Presentation- The presentation still doesn't feel that great unlike NCAA 11 which feels like your watching an actual college game, but the new lighting and Gus Johnson really brings a new feel to Madden. Just put a CBS or ESPN broadcasting style in there and it will be even better.

- Locomotion- I heard OS in the blog on some website and he said that the locomotion is more smoother than in NCAA. I thought he was lying but when I pulled off this one huge broken tackle with Wes Welker I was like man this is better than NCAA's locomotion.

- Team Play- It was tough to put in the likes because it has so much negative things to it but it is a fun game mode if your paired with people who don't quit. I don't know how many times my whole team quit on me and I had to quit.

- Graphics- Better than NCAA, players look real and crowd looks way better than NCAA which looks like a PS1 crowd.

- Soundtrack- I thought it was going to be bad but I admit it was actually alright. I don't like We Ready in the game though because it's like Can't C Me from last year when every word is beeped out.

Dislikes

- Online Games- I know their fixing it but there is way to many problems. Kicking lag ( don't know how many extra points I've missed), Quitters not getting penalized, etc

- Franchise Mode, Superstar Mode- I think we all know

- NCAA imported draft classes- I think I have like 10 fullbacks projected to go in the first round and after the first round all the players in the draft are rated below 70.

- Bugs- We all know about bugs not much to explain ( not many bugs as NCAA happy bout that!)

- Weather effects- I just called it weather effects but here's the deal. My opponent was telling me on my online franchise last night how it rains all the time and how it rains in New York in January. I was like he's right then I realized I also have seen snow in San Fran in the game but yet it rains in New York in January. GET REALISTIC MADDEN!

- Time Changes- In september when I play a 4:30 game it shouldn't really get darker until at the end of the game and around december at 4:30 games it should be pitch black in the 2nd half. I don't even think this game changes from day to night at all! The Super Bowl always starts a bit light then is dark half way through the 1st quarter. Make it like that Madden.

That's it I probably missed stuff but in all it's a pretty fun game seeing both NCAA and Madden improve was pretty good. Final Score

8/10

I think the gameplay's better in Madden than NCAA so I gave it an 8. Make a new Franchise and Superstar to get a 9.

Good review. Pretty much agree with everything you said.

Good review also a negetive would be the crowd and players on the sideline always support the wrong team. ie. When the other team scores on a big play you can see your players on the sideline cheering, also the crowd tends to boo the the user after a big play at home. I know it's seems kind of minor but in a game where real crowd chants, stadium music, and team fight songs where supposed to improve the presentation it kind of ruins it for me.

Well it usually tells you how much of a penalty you will get before you release the player. Like if I go to Nick Kaczur on the Pats and choose release it will say, "are you sure you want to release this player, there will be a penalty of _____ million against your cap",( it says something like that) and usually the penalty will be higher ( close to 10 million) for older guys that just got signed to big contracts( example a 32 year old who just got signed to a 8 mill contract for 3 years will have a huge penalty). So don't release too many players with high cap penalty's, maybe release like 1 high penalty player a season. Hope thats what you wanted to hear.
