At the age of 32, Kobe Bryant has lost his explosiveness and his depending more on his perimeter shooting. On the other hand, Dwyane Wade is explosive as ever at the age of 28. He can blow by his opponents as fast as the speed of a Ferrari. The common characteristic of each of them is that they are extremely clutch. Around the league, Kobe is averaging 25.4 points which is 4th in the NBA while Dwyane Wade is averaging 23.3 points which is 11th. Kobe is averaging 33.2 minutes per game which is 5 less than last year, yet he is still leading his team in scoring and assists.
They are both extremely clutch and you would always give the ball in Kobe's hands. He can hit game winners as well as Michael Jordan. Dwyane Wade has the same game closing ability, but his true ability is his driving ability. He has one of the most explosive first steps NBA has ever seen.
The Heat won the Christmas clash as the Heat beat the Lakers 96-80, where the Heat shut down Kobe to only 17 points. Lebron had a triple double, Bosh with 24 and Wade with 18. All of the big 3 outplayed Kobe.
In conclusion, I still think Kobe is better than Wade, I think Kobe will meet the Celtics again in the Finals and three-peat.

We comparing a 32 year old with 15 years on him.. To someone that is 29 in his prime with 8 years into his career...makes sense

Kobe is past his prime (not by much mind you, he's still a very dominant player) and Wade just hit his prime. Both are elite players (obviously), but Kobe is still superior right now. It'll be interesting comparing them when they're both retired.

The only who has done more with less besides Wade last year, was Iverson when he made it to the finals. Thats saying a lot.

kobe just has a messed up shooting finger...even if he lacks the explosiveness you claim...he can still get it done with the best of them

While Kobe and Wade are both my dudes, I say if I had to pick, based on current day players, I'd go with Wade. Kobe has lost a lot. It's been a deterioration and erosion of his physical abilities for the last few years. Wade has been hurt, or so it seems, FAR more than Kobe since he came into the league but has he lost a step? Nope...but Kobe is "tougher". I will also give Kobe an allowance since he did come straight out of high school AND is older than Wade but still, it's not about that. It's about the here and now.
Kobe is not anywhere as near a threat as Wade because of his incredible slashing ability and shooting ability, as well. Wade's first step is LETHAL where as Kobe moves like a senior citizen, now. Lol. I kid...a lil but Wade is scary off the dribble.
At any rate, I'd take Wade.

I personally think that its not fair to compare Kobe vs Wade or any other player, unless they at the stage of their carrer that Kobe is. Basically Kobe is in his 15th season; with prolly another 2-3 season of wear in tear off of playoff games. not to mention the amount of b-ball his body has undertaken in just the last 3-4yrs alone.
Fact is that there are alot of players in the league who have more explosiveness that Kobe and give him troubles these days. But its also a fact that when Kobe was Wade's age Wade couldnt hold a candle to the feats that Kobe was pulling off when he still had that step.
SO ppl can take Wade in the here and now and i can understand that logic, however.....
The more important question is this....
when Wade or whoever else is in his 15th season and there body has accummalated the amount of miles that Kobe's has and when said players athleticism starts to fail them.....will they still be as dominate at that stage of their careers as Kobe is now?
Ima go ahead and place my bet on the answer to that last question being NO
so imma take Kobe in the here and now because thru everything (who's better stuff, etc...) including time he still finds away in the end to get it down and be the last man standing...
The man is a living Legend...still going strong 15yrs in

Kobe is just at a point in his career where he has learned to pace himself for an 82 game grind. His game goes beyond the numbers. Playing less minutes is a great thing.
Wade can go all out for 82 plus games, but keep in mind he is very injury prone, more so than Kobe ever was during his prime.
If I were to choose, Id pick Kobe. Wade would be a distant second. which isnt bad when being compared to the current greatest clutch player.

Wade throws his body around with wreckless abandon which leads to injuries. Both in there prime I would give a slight nod to Kobe and I am a huge Dwayne Wade fan (massive pioneer Heat fan est 1988). Kobe after Jordan is the greatest assassian the game has ever seen. When he smells blood, he goes for the jugular. One of the greatest closers ever.
Wade has the same DNA and I hope it rubs off on Lebron (as I think it already has).
Both are imo easisly in the top 7 or 8 greatest players the game has ever seen.

ok i dont like say what have already been said above..everyone so far made points that i understood or agree with 100 percent..so lets think about this if we take wade and the young kobe..who game is better.........wade hands down...young kobe didnt have a all around game..plus had shaq and phil jackson to mess up his shine..wade is great but if you throw in wat lebron did coming out of high school braken reacords at a fast rate in almost every season..man the only thing lebron is missing right now is rings other then that you cant put nothing againts him...but kobe is the best right now and he should be..he is the VET in the league right...LeBron and Wade will be the best in the league once kobe is gone...maybe the best ever for lebron and wade or one of the best for wade..
