Who is the PG in the NBA?
Posted on December 22, 2010 at 07:16 AM.
There are many great PG's in the NBA, such as Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Russell Westbrook but who is the best one?

Derrick Rose is leading in scoring in all point guards at 24.3. Rajon Rondo is leading the league in assists with an impressing 13.8 per game. Russell Westbrook is leading in rebounding in all point guards at 5. Rajon Rondo is currently suffering an injury which will sideline him until late December. Russell Westbrook is emerging into a top point guard. He is leading to a debate of whether him or Kevin Durant is the best player in Thunder. Russell Westbrook is averaging 22.3 points, 5 rebounds and 8.4 assists.

Derrick Rose is an early MVP candidate leading his team along with Carlos Boozer. Joakim Noah is out for 8-10 weeks so Rose will have to step up his game.

Early this season, Chris Paul led his team to an impressing 9-0 record leaving them as the last unbeaten team this season. Right now through 28 games, he is averaging 16.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 9.7 assists.

Deron Williams is averaging 22.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 9.7 assists leading his team to a 20-9 record.

Currently I think Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose are the top PG's in the league topping D-WIll, CP3 and Rajon Rondo

No doubt a lot of PGs have broken out this season to join the conquest for the title of best PG. However, I still think Paul is the best. He's the most consistent shooter, and he's a proven floor general. Rondo, Rose and Westbrook all have style and great potential, but I think Paul is the best PG because he does everything you desire from the PG slot consistently. He's typically pass first, but he can score at will if need be. He rebounds well, plays tenacious D and hustles. I like him more than scoring PGs like D-Will.

D-Will is not just a scoring point guard. How can you say that Paul is a pass first guy and D-Will is not when they both are averaging 9.7 Assist a game? I am a Jazz fan and am probably a little biased (ok probably a lot) but D-Will is definitely a pass first point guard. He only shows his supreme scoring ability when the Jazz are down and nobody is stepping up. So D-Will in my eyes is the best point guard in the NBA. He can do everything and do it well.

I'm actually a Celtics fan but I think Deron Williams is the best PG in the league

Well, Chris Paul's AST% (which is an estimate of the percentage of teammates' field goals that a player assisted while he was on the floor) is 49.5 while Deron Williams' is 41.8. Deron also averages 4.6 more field goal attempts. So I think it's fair to say that Deron is more of a scorer.
