At the mid point of the season the Mavs are sitting in the 5 seed with a 11-9 record. Rudy Gay leads the league in scoring with a 30.5 average and he was selected by the coaches to play in his first All Star game. The biggest story of the All Star break however, is Jordan being snubbed! You know what happens when you make #23 angry, bad news for the rest of the NBA. Some new faces have joined the team. The Mavs traded Johnny Newman for Jared Dudley who provides a threat from deep. Later Roddy Beaubois and Channing Frye were dealt to the Bulls for Jeff Hornacek. His veteran leadership and scoring are already paying dividends as he scored 19 points and had 5 assists in his debut. His is that solid 3rd scoring option the team has been looking for. The Mavs also traded James Smith to the 76ers for their 1st round pick this year and their 2nd round pick next year. The Sixers currently have the worst record in the NBA. The future is looking bright for the Mavs.

2012-2013 Fantasy Mavs, A Season of Redemption

I started a fantasy draft season using some of the classic teams. In a 29 game season the Mavs went 9-20 the first year, and with the 4th overall pick in the draft the Mavs drafted Sam Barkley a Center out of Memphis. With his rebounding ability he should provide the inside presence to balance out the back court of Hardaway and Beaubois.
