Bowl eligible.

Those two words mean quite a bit to coach Harry Welsh right now after his UL Monroe Warhakws 6th win of the season.

"Holy crap we are bowl eligible baby! BOWL ELIGIBLE! I am so excited to be able to make it to a bowl game in my very first year as a college football coach. I am living the dream! LIVIN' THE DREAM!" Welsh had to say after the game.

Although it was a win, it was not a pretty one for the Warhawks. They started off the game well but late in the 3rd and all through the 4th quarter there offense was getting stopped cold and there defense was getting slowly shredded by the FIU Golden Panthers. The real reason the Warhawks got the win is because of the 4 interceptions thrown by D. Washington of FIU.

C. Bryant only through 11 passes throughout the game and he only completed 6. However, he did do a great job picking up yards on the ground. He rushed for 49 yards, and was the 4th player on the team in that stat. B. Woods got 57 yards while the FB G. Jones and HB R. Means hit 50.

After the week 13 victory to make the Warhawks bowl eligible, they were projected to be in the Godaddy.com Bowl against the 11-0 #24 ranked Ohio Bobcats.

The following is the BCS Top 10 going into week 14:
1. Oklahoma
2. Boise State
3. Alabama
4. Ohio State
5. Michigan State
6. Nebraska
7. Texas A&M

UL Monroe made it look easy. On a day where many expected an offensive battle, defense dominated this one. The Warhawks had one of their best all around games of the season as they shut out the Blue Raiders of Mid Tenn State 17-0.

"Man our defense made those college kids look like Pop Warner fools!", Coach Welsh had to say after the game, "I have a good feeling you all will be seeing us play in a bowl game this winter. 5-4 baby! Woo!"

Coach Welsh's option offense performed very well against a struggling Blue Raiders defense. They gave up over 150 yards on the ground and over 100 through the air. The UL Monroe defense didn't make to many huge plays, but the consistently kept the Blue Raiders in 3rd and long situations. They played a great game and came away with the best result a defense can get - a shut out.

C. Bryant had a good game on the ground, as did RBs R. Means and B. Woods. Z. Singleton has quietly produced a very good season out at TE. He has 12 catches on the year with 149 yards. The current defensive leader for the Warhawks is MLB Anthony Bennett with 49 total tackles and 24 solo ones. He also leads the team in tackles for loss with 12. He also has a sack, forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries on the year. He took one of them back for a TD.

In what was an exciting game to watch, Coach Welsh's Warhawks triumphed over arch-rival UL Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns QB, J. Pendleton, was his usual self in the passing game, completeing 10/22 passes. Some balls he threw were very sloppy and the recievers were not open. However, when the man was deep and wide open, Pendleton got the ball to him. The Ragin' Cajuns only 2 TDs were on deep passes that were poorly played by the UL Monroe secondary. They were playing run and bit on a play fake or just weren't expecting a reciever to fly by them. On the ground, Pendleton didn't even attempt to scramble. Usually, he'll scramble a few times a game and pick up good yardage. But today he was sacked a few times and finished with negative rushing yardage.

The UL Monroe offense played well when they needed to. Coach Welsh said specifically that his RBs need to work on hitting the correct hole on running plays. They often ran into the wrong gap and were taken out by UL Lafayette defenders. The team total for rushing came out at 100 yards. Freshmen RB R. Means stepped up big for UL Monroe, leading the team in rushing with 36 yards. He picked up a few key first downs when they were needed. So did FB T. Johnson. He got a big first down on the final drive and 2 TDs, including the game winning rush.

The Warhawks will celebrate the win over their rivals for the next few days, but then it's all back to business for the Warhawks as they take on Mid Tenn State in week 12.

This match-up is probably the biggest one all year for the UL Monroe Warhawks. They only have two rivals, one being UL Lafayette, and the other LA Tech. With LA Tech being very conference fickle, this leaves the only rivalry game for the Warhawks.

They are the favorite coming into this game, but it could really be a toss up. UL Lafayette has better offensive stats, while UL Monroe has better defensive stats. That battle will be a big factor for this game.

Another big thing to watch is how will freshmen RB R. Means perform in his first rivalry game? The young rusher has 201 yards on 32 rushes this season. Another big thing will be the Warhawks trying stop the opposing QB J. Pendleton from making big plays on the ground. He hasn't had the best year through the air, as he only has completed 44% of his 285 passes and has thrown 10 picks. If the Warhawks can keep him from scrambling, the secondary could pull out some key turnovers.

Leave your prediction on the final score in the comments!

*I apologize. I forgot the NT Receiving stats. *

The UL Mornoe Warhawks pulled out a sloppy win over the North Texas Mean Green. The offense as a unit did a lot better this week, going over 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing.

The Warhawks take week 10 off, but in week 11 they take on arch-rival, UL Laffayette. A separate preview post for that game will be out shortly.

*Box Score is switched - Troy won 21-20*

UL Monroe is beyond disappointed after that loss. The sole reason the game was not sent into overtime was a missed extra point. I repeat, A MISSED EXTRA POINT. UL Monroe had put the ball in the end zone with 1:45 to go in the 4th. An extra point would tie the game, but kicker Aaron Bailey just couldn't get it through.

"I cannot believe this happened...the snap was good the hold was okay I guess but I truly deserve the blame here. I cannot believe I let my teammates down. I will do all that is in my power to help my teammates and coaches get a win," Bailey said after the game.

The Warhawks really clicked in the passing game, throwing for 205 yards. The rushing attack wasn't as strong as it has been throughout the season, rushing for just over 70 yards. Quarterback C. Bryant had 10 attempts but had a total of -1 yards.

"Well, that was heartbreaking," Coach Welsh had to say, "I can't believe those crazy creepos beat us. We'll be after them again though, believe me on that."

The UL Monroe Warhawks pulled out a much needed win in their conference opener. After a rough 1-3 start which included losses to TCU, Florida State, and Iowa, the Warhawks performed well against a team more on there level. Even still, UL Monroe was the underdog coming into the game, but they left Arkansas with a win and that put them at 1-0 in conference play.

There were a surprising amount of injuries throughout the game. When star QB Chris Bryant had to go to the sidelines, back-up freshmen QB Terry Smith finished off the drive with a TD. Starting FB Travis Johnson was out the whole game but TE George Jones stepped up big for UL Monroe, leading the team with rushing.

"That is the game I have been waiting for all flippin season! Well even though we are only half-way through, I feel like we can do great in our conference this year. That's right! Look for the UL Monroe Warhawks atop the Sun Belt Conference this year!", is what Coach Harry Welsh had to say on the game.

Next week, the Warhawks face off against the Troy Trojans:

The Warhawks crushed the Cobras for there first win of the season. Although it was only an FCS team, the Warhawks defense looked very confuesed at times. Coach Welsh is more of an offensive minded coach and that showed greatly in the game.

The UL Monroe rushing attack was run greatly as the Warhawks racked up over 200 yards on the ground. Next weeks match-up at TCU is going to be a tough one for Coach Welsh and the Warhawks.

*NOTE I am still getting used to the tables, but the stats and score need to be switched. The FCS Southeast stats are really the UL Monroe ones and vice versa*

NOTE: This Dynasty is being played in NCAA 12. One or two teams were switched to give the conferences all an even number of teams and I am playing the games in 6 minute quarters.

Harry Welsh has been called a mad man by many. He grew up Iowa and lived there for quite some time. He didn't even take an interest in football until the man was 30 years old. But once he found out about the sport, he was hooked. He loved watching college football, especially the Cal Golden Bears. Harry was a car mechanic at the time, he never went to college and barley passed high school. But at age 31, he decided he would coach high school football. He started out as an Offensive Coordinator at the local high school. 2 years later, the best high school in all of Iowa. After becoming a legend coaching there, he was finally offered a college job to UL Monroe. Harry Welsh runs an intense option offense that relies on speed and smarts. His defensive scheme includes a lot of blitzing and risk taking plays.

*Later I will post Pre-Season information for the 2011-2012 UL Monroe Season*
